Just a quick thankyou.

Had some signal strength issues on my Asus 1000HE with the Win7 Beta 7048 (Ultimate) installed. Adding the latest version of your modded Vista x86 drivers did the trick for me nicely!

Again, thanks for some great work!

No worries and welcome to the dark side :)

The WLAN card should go at what ever speed the router is transmitting at.

Super G mode was an oddball mode, unless you have the same chipset as the router you will most likely not see 108Mbps.

Draftn is much better in this regard as it will allow non like chipsets to connect a high speed (270Mbps for on like chipsets)

Hmm when i try do connect under win xp i can do it without any problems, drivers are working great under xp and and i have the same chipset on router same sad my wlan card those are Atheros based cards and they work great under xp but vista is problem becouse it can't install drivers that will recognize 108 mbit card on board. Whatever i do delete all drivers all wlan crap reinstall it again vista wont show 108 mbit card on board.. i think it a driver problem

http://www.kvark.hr/index.cgi?menu_id=58&product_id=4646 this is a card from tp link and my motherboard is gigabyte ga-m59sli-s4

Remove/uninstall current driver, then let Windows automatically find a driver.

See if this helps, you've also tried the older drivers 7.6.0.xxx or 7.4.xxxx ?

Guest Guessed

Setting ccode to JP (Japan) exposes channels 12-13 for adhoc networks in the ACU

In any case, channel 14 is only for 802.11b not 802.11g AND ONLY for use in Japan

But still no luck in getting a connection to an access point in infrastructure mode using channels 12 or 13

Atheros 5006EX on Compaq v6065ea

After I upgraded my drivers to the modded version (the same happens with newest stock drivers) my WiFi LED started flashing when connected. I tried to return to the solid colour by removing

HKR, ,softLEDEnable,0x00002, "1"

HKR, ,swapDefaultLED,0x00002, "1"

but the first line does not exists in the inf, and removal of the other one makes no difference.

How do I go about making my led solid again?

Thanks mate,

I really appreciate your efforts and they couldn't have come at a better time! I just order last week the SparkLAN card (Mini PCI) and Gigabyte card (Mini card) AGN cards for my newer and older laptop, as well as an extra internal antenna for the older machine (Dell Inspiron 9300). I grabbed em both from Oxford Tech who I previously bought a Super G mini card by Gigabyte (AR 5005G) as well as their excellent Gigabyte Super mini PCI A/G card (AR5006XS). I am currently running Intel's AGN mini card in my XPS and it will be interesting to do some testing between the two cards once I get my hands on a n based router. I noted the model you quoted from D Link (DIR 855) and am waiting for that one to come out since it will feature an Atheros chipset.

Whilst you have the newest driver and awesome modded inf posted, here's another good Atheros driver source:

ftp://lizzi555.dyndns.org/Download/WLAN/Atheros/

Thanks!

why i cant download it?

Alright guys I have a problem with my all Atheros 802.11a Turbo (108Mbps) network. I have older Atheros AR5001+ a/b/g mini-PCI cards (running V4 drivers) which all work fine with my router (Netgear WGU624). Now recently I bought few newer AR5006EXS (AR5424) based cards. These cards do not see my network's SSID when it is in 108Mbps mode. I have tried V5, V6 and V7 drivers but no avail.

Then just for experiment I upgraded the drivers for my older cards (AR5001+) to V6 and then V7 version and those cards lost the ability to connect to 108Mbs network as well. So I am thinking it may be a driver issue and with some tweaking my AR5006EXS (AR5424) cards may be able to see and connect to 108Mbps mode network.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Amazing work. Here is my experience.

I've been trying to death, to get a wireless adapter do what it's suppose to do: work.

I just installed Windows 7 (build 7100). Everything was running great, all drivers installed automagically. One issue thou: this wireless PCI adapter D-Link DWL-G520 (rev. A2) which won't connect to networks. The card was identified correctly, its driver was installed without problems, it even sees networks - but it could not connect to a wireless network. Just an annoying unknown error, and Windows troubleshooter was of no help.

I had Ubuntu previously installed, in which the card was running great. Luckily, I have another identical D-Link DWL-G520 (rev. B4) and I tried it too. This one worked under Windows 7 - imagine that! based on Hardware Ids, I start searching in netathr.inf and found that these cards have different names, so I changed the name from the one who works to the one it won't - I have no idea what other thing to do, except searching the internet. Now that I found this driver, I installed it for both cards and it works great, I even see more networks - somehow, the reception is improved comparing to stock Windows driver.

Thank you!

Hi,

I've got a dell xps studio 13 which came with a dell 1515 wireless n card. Every morning the signal drops out and the only way to fix it is to reset the router (dlink dir635). It has to be the dell card because I havent had this problem with any other laptop.

So my problem is this, I cant upgrade the dell card because it is half height and a full height card would be too long. I noticed that the wlan and the wwan connectors both look the same, mpcie slots. So my question is could I install a full height mpcie wlan card into the wwan port?

I've just been looking around, I can get a half height intel 5300 but theres a couple of things I'm not sure about.

first, is the 5300 as good as a dell 1515 (really a atheros 5009)

and second I've read that the 5300 will only work with a intel chipset and the studio 13 is a nvidia chipset so will the 5300 work in the studio 13

The only reason I'd go back to intel is because I know they have more stable drivers

The i5300 does not work with my i945 Chipset, not sure why it refuses to work.

Not heard about the nvidia chipset issue and i5300 (but wouldn't surprise me if it did)

I've got a speed review up in the main WLAN section (this tells of my experiences with various WLAN chipsets)

Guest aalaptop

interesting, well for half height my choices are dell or intel and the more a read about the intel the more it seems like a bad idea.

All I want is a fast operating reliable wireless n card, is that too much to ask?!?! The best I've got is my AR5008 but only on my xps m1210 and only with xp (constantly crashes on vista).

This dell 1515 is good except for dropping out overnight. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix that???
