Caz2k
For all us owners of the HP dv9543cl with the 8600m GS 256mb card, here are the results I've found. Benchmark software: 3DMark05 Pro 1.3.0 with default settings; 1024x768,none,optimal,3_0,3_0,off nVidia Control Panel: 3D Settings set to default; Let the 3d application decide OS: Vista Home Premium McAfee OAS enabled OEM driver shipped with laptop: 5/1/2007 v.7.15.11.123 Updated OEM driver with HP driver update SP36380: 6/25/2007 v.7.15.11.145 3DMark05 Test Results: HP SP36380 06/25/2007 v.7.15.11.145 score:3876 FWX 16369 09/11/2007 v.7.15.11.6369 score:4103 FWX 16375 10/04/2007 v.7.15.11.6375 score:4109 FWX 16501 04/12/2007 v.7.15.11.6501 score:4136 Given this information, I loaded World In Conflict with the 16501 driver and ran the in-game benchmark with an applied setting of 1440x900 resolution on Medium graphic detail. The average results are about double that of the SP36380 drivers. Now the in-game benchmark for WIC on Low graphic detail at 1440x900 is wicked fast and I'm okay with running the game on this setting. Come to think about it, I'd rather play WIC at home on my desktop which sports an ATI x1900xtx. It's just nice to know that I can play WIC on my laptop at Starbucks or elsewhere if I need to. =)
