unlocked Video BIOS for DELL Go 7900 GS, Go 7900 GTX & Go 7950 GTX

I've just uploaded the unlocked BIOS's that our friend Juanlu made some months ago.

These files are no longer hosted by Juanlu and he seems to have dissappeared of this planet.

These are usable by Dell note books with the go7900GS, go7900GTX and go&950GTX GPU's

Should work happily on i9400/E1705 and XPS M1710's.

go7900GS owners will need to be VERY careful as there are 2 BIOS versions and you need to get it right before flashing.

Anywho, the download below has an ISO file that can be used to make a bootable CD with everything needed to flash your video BIOS

I've also included the BIOS files seperatly for those with other bootable media (ie USB flash) just copy the files to it.

The ROMs can be found here

Just extract some where and use an ISO capable CD burner to make a CD or just copy the files to a bootable media.

For more instructions head on over here

READ READ READ before doing anything, go over everything in your mind an have everything ready should it go wrong (did for me once but I managed to recover blindly phew)

Remember I take no responsibility for anything that goes wrong, you do it at your own risk

Enjoy, and any comments, suggestions welcomed :)

Juan's original Page can still be found here in archived form or below I've attempted to recreate it.

We owe Juan a huge debt for all the work he has done.

Hi everybody...

Mi name is Juan Luis Garrido, I?m an IT student and I have been able to decipher the bit codes from the Nvidia bioses that let you:

-- Unlock the frequencies from both the core and the memory by software.

-- Unlock Powermizer in battery mode. Now you can select the mode "Maximum performance" runing on battery.

-- Load the optimum timings for the memory.

All this is based on all the tests that have taken place using my inspiron 9400 with the Nvidia 7900gs graphics adaptor, and with the help of programs such as ATITool, RivaTuner, NiBiTor and nvFlash.

I would also like to thank Sergio and everyone from "NOTICIAS 3D" and "NOTEBOOKFORUMS" forums.

IMPORTANT!! There are two revisions of 7900gs:

- Revision 0 (rev.0): with bios 05.71.22.16.13.

- Revision 1 (rev.1): with bios 05.71.22.28.01.

If you use the wrong bios, when you reboot you obtain black screen. If this was happening, ask for help in the forum.

I have created an image cd that contains the following files:

79x0bios.jpg

NOTE: With the memory optimized and running at 1.24v you can increase the frequency (7900GS, 7900GTX, 1500M and 2500M) over 1600 MHz with no problems, however Samsung states that it?s maximum should be 1400 MHz.

For obtaining the maximum performance you have to reflash the graphics card with the bios XXXXXUOV.ROM or XXXXXXUO.ROM (according to model).

XXXXXNNN.ROM or XXXXXXNN.ROM is original bios (according to model).

INSTRUCTIONS:

0º Do it under your own responsibility. Dell?s warranty would not take care of an Overclocked card.

1º Burn the image on a CD using a burning program such as Nero.

2º Restart the computer and then you see DELL?s Logo appear press F12 until you see the Boot menu.

3º Choose the option CD/DVD/CD-RW.

4º Type nvflash XXXXXXXX.ROM.

5º Accept the process pressing Y.

6º Restart the computer, you are done.

DOWNLOAD:

JLMOD_ISO_VER.6

CHANGES:

VER.1. First iso.

VER.2. Solved bug (caused by me) in some bios.

VER.3. Updated file name and added 7800GTX and 7950GTX graphics adaptor.

VER.4. Added 6800ULTRA.

VER.5. Added 1500M. Updated memory frequency of 7900GS to 1014Mhz instead of 1000Mhz.

VER.6. Added 7900GS Rev.1.

Then chances are yes, do a google for this to confirm it.

The Quadro 1500M is very similar to the go7900GS same speeds (see chart above)

Make 100% sure it is possible, I'm only providing the means to do it.

It's all your own risk in actually doing it.

I can't emphasize this enough.

The compressed file has an ISO among the other files that does not appear to contain the same files around it. Do I use the ISO file or do I burn on all the files? Also, once my card's BIOS is flashed, I just have to carefully adjust settings in ATItool to a setting that is stable and works well?

The ROM files should be the same, as I sucked them from the ISO.

The other files might be slightly different.

And yes, ATI tool is a good way to test for a stable error free system.

Sorry I'm such a newb to all this, but I successful flashed the bios of my GeForce 7900GS go rev 0 card and am not sure where to go from here. I installed ATITools and when I try to change any settings it says my card does not appear to be used by windows. I don't know if this is because im using Vista or not. If someone wouldn't mind telling me what drivers and program to use to OC and also how to monitor the temperatures and some settings most people use for this card, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please help me if you can!

Thanks so much!

Hey guys a little question.

Im rather experianced with bios flashes and stuff like this.

(been doing this since back in the geforce 4 days)

I succesfully flashed the 790GTXUO bios to my card.

Witch should be the unlocked and memory optimised bios according to the link.

But i cant seem to change any clock speeds with rivatuner or with ntune or any other software method.

Im using the 175.95 driver now (try'd the 177.66 and 177.72 to since i like to keep my system updated)

Windows vista 32bit btw, but that should matter anyway.

Anyone who was able to change the clocks in windows succesfully on a dell m1710

Ive been running on a flashed bios with 550/1400 clocks for a long time now but the memory optimisation

and the ability to go a bit higher catched my eye, so changing clocks in windows makes tweaking a lot easier

then reflashing the bios over and over. :)

Hope someone can help.
