GenMatrix
I was just wondering it was possible, and would it be over the top ridiculous to do. This is the card I was looking at by the way... http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Asus-nVidia-GeForc...VQQcmdZViewItem Edited November 18, 2007 by GenMatrix
Jacko87
Why? You have a good card, the 512 VRAM makes up for the GDDR2, and GDDR3 offers little performance over GDDR2.

If anything, wait for an 8800GTX to come out, as I heard Alienware will possibly putting them into 15" notebooks. In that case, pray that they have the same connection as your 8600M GT
Ice-Tea
I doubt very much there will ever be a 8800 on a Type II card.
RangerXML
Alienware is stating on its hotline that the 8800M is MXM type II. Read something about this on Notebookreview.com and called myself, either there miss informed and are about to cause on hell of a storm or the 8800M is going to be one of the greatest and most profitable graphics card release for notebooks. I just hope I can sell my 8600M GT if they do come out with a 8800M for my C90S.
__-_-_-__
Alienware can state anything they like. Alienware don't even use MXM. If you had read all the posts in that topic in Notebookreview.com you wouldn't be saying that. And even if they use MXM the 8800M GTS and the 8800M GTX have exactly the same size and the size makes it unable to comply with the MXM II spec. It will be type III and/or HE. (And that it's just for the size, thermal dissipation and power consumption and other thins make it unable to become a MXM II type). Of course that will be some 15" with the 8800M it just have to have some kind of mxm III or HE slot and be able to handle the spec, it's not a technical issue. There have been MXM III 15" notebooks in the past. About the C90S even if it has a mxm III slot it's not for sure that you can upgrade it. Profitable? With no competition from ATI, Nvidia has the monopoly. Altought notebook manufacturs already known that selling graphic cards its much more less profitable then just selling notebooks. MXM was created many years ago if it was a profitable market nowadays anyone could go to a store and by a mxm graphic card has anyone can buy for a desktop or to buy SODIM ram.
