Guest Jopon
Yeah its not the .exe its the modified inf thats the problem. Also i have a question for someone who knows what they are doing. None of the recent drivers work for my 8700m GT, so i dug through the drivers that came with my computer and found my original driver. I just took the .inf from that a renamed it, and used that with the 169.12 release. I didn't modify it at all, so its my original .inf. It seemed to work fine and the drivers installed hassle free and the computer seems to be working great. So my question is, whats the catch? Am i missing some important files that will mess me up later on, or am I good to go. What exactly is in a .inf file anyway? I mean if this works than all i have to do for all the newest driver releases from Nvidia is throw in my .inf instead of using the supplied one? Guest Guest
'Windows has encountered a problem' after installing it. Tried this on XPS m1710 with 7900GTX. Anyway i appreciate your work mobilenvidia.

Guest OV10stang
Modded my stock inf and this driver works good on my X205-sli1. Don't see any changes from the 169.04 and 169.09 drivers, on my sys anyway. Latest Rivatuner works ok, o/c's the same as the others.
Guest fuxufag
hmmmm... wher r for win xp?? :) Ya, where is the XP ? not that it will be better LmFaO. really. it's the same as any drivers back to 87.13.

Guest Jacob Korf
I can't install it. Setup not working... Anyone got an idea? :) Me neither :P I think the .inf file is corrupted, because i tried it also without modded .inf. (i could be wrong of course :)
Guest Porsche
Yup...it's the inf file......setup is giving an error when using it....use the inf from 169.09 to install it untill a proper inf is released....
mattdavis90
Hi all, The inf file at the top of the page is formatted for unix/linux systems whereas the one the setup needs is windows based, not too bad to convert so I have attached a converted and working version to this post. It worked for me so fingers crossed it will work for the rest of you!nv_disp.inf

Also many thanks too mobilenvidia :) :P I let you know if it works :P It works :) I'll test if there's any changes in fps in game's like cod4 and unreal 3. I guess there's not much changed, because there's only a fix for the hibernation.
mattdavis90
Hi again, Glad the inf is now working for everyone. I have tested performance on my system using Crysis as a benchmark and as far as I can tell there is now performance difference at all when compared to the 169.09 drivers. Can I just ask, is there anyone with a similar spec machine to mine that can run Crysis on anything but all low settings? Thanx in advance
Guest Guest
not sure about your system, i've got a dell 1520, i run crysis on medium (which were to recommended settings) its not running as smoothe as i'd like though.

mobilenvidia
Hmmm, no problems with x64 version INF, which is similar except for 64bit bits I'm going to install Vista x86 and see if i can track down the INF problrm. There is nothing obvious to me that could be causing the issues. Will be much easier to diagnose and fix with a working OS.
H4ck 3D
Hi Pieter, The inf is getting saved with improper formatting (i.e. no line returns and such). If I convert the file to Windows format with Notepad++, everything installs fine. Format > Convert to Windows Format Save As mentioned earlier, it seems to be getting downloaded and saved to as Unix format by default (Probably due to the OS the server is running). Hope this helps you track down the issue, Josh
