Dell M1730 boot issue caused by SLI on XP

Hi,

I wiped my laptop on Saturday and installed XP Pro (genuine version with slipstreamed Intel SATA/AHCI). Every time I enable SLi, not only does it refuse to enable my Dell 2405 as the SLi display (over VGA) but when I reboot XP, it fails to load. I have to power-cycle it and then it loads without a problem.

If I shut-down from XP and the switch back on, it boots fine.

If I disable SLi, I can reboot fine.

This happens with 169.17, 169.12 and 169.09.

This is driving me nuts. I've tried rebooting without my external monitor attached. Made no difference.

This is a completely fresh install of XP. Chipset drivers are correctly loaded, as are all ancillary drivers (networking, bluetooth, wireless, audio). I have not installed Dell Quickset, System Utilities or the touchpad driver.

Has anyone come across a similar problem?
