Hi all.

Firstly, thanks am I glad to have found this forum!

I have been given a Sony laptop to try and fix, it boots into Windows ok, but I cannot get a driver installed to the GPU Nvidia Geforce 6400 go.

I have tried loads of driver / inf combinations but it will only stay at VGAsave mode (4-bit res)

I says Code 10 - device could not start.

The Phoenix BIOS has nothing I can change, and the Sony site is not helping me either.

Am I flogging a dead horse? I have a feeing this is a hardware problem..

I hope someone can help, or confirm this is not worth carrying on with.

Here is the NERD log, Thanks in advance

i dont know precisely what the problem is and dont know the correct steps but i do have enough knowledge to give some addvice and yes i know that this topic is over 2 years old.

i have a vgn-fs810/w sony vaio running windows xp w/sp2 with the same exact video chip-set as the one you posted, along with the same keyboard(which i searched drivers for and found this post.) and other various things

if you havent already install the generic driver for the interl® 915gm/gml,910gml it can be found here

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNFS810&upd_id=1945&os_id=7

and if that doesnt work restore to earliest date and if that dont work reinstall os.

and if that doesnt work id say its broke.

here is a copy of my specs so you can confirm my statement
