Asus G2S-A2 --- 169.25 Still fails to install.

I got it to ack that it can install 169.25 on my Asus G2S-A2 laptop (8600M GT) -- but the install routine goes about halfway through the job (with a popup saying "installing drivers" and a progress bar) then it just cuts out and says nothing was installed.

Any suggestions WTF I should do next?

TIA, if anyone can offer any useful information.
