Tried these on my DELL XPS1330M with onboard 8400M GS. Launched WoW and it jumps like as if I had no chipset driver installed.

Running XP 64bit is the only option for me (I have 4gb of RAM), but this graphic driver problem is a real pain.

I had the 169.04 before, and I could not stand by (it would blue screen on resume) and sometimes it would do the same thing these drivers do...

Seems in 3D they forget to switch to the high freq mode.

Isn't it possible some of the advanced inf tweaks you put up just won't be recognized by the 8400 chipset correctly?

I talk as programming ignorant, so I'm just guessing away! :)

Any replies appreciated! :)

Hello,

I tried a few drivers, and each from them haven't this option.

  • 2 weeks later...

cAN you please explain to me why you guys mod these drivers? i mean there is no such thing on the nvidia board as a 169.28 driver. so im wondering why you would need to mod the inf since the drivers from nvidia do in fact work. at least i may be missing something. but ive never seen them bluescreen me. and i have 3 pc in sli mod.

4200+ amd with two 7900 gt oc bfg techs and the L1n64 sli ws with 2 8800gts

and a qx9650 with two diamond viper 2900xts overclocked to 4.0 and scored 700 from the lead in 3dmark06 out of over3,600,000.

and ot of all those systems ive never used a moded driver. not saying they arent better. im actually asking why because i do want to use the best always. was trying to see if you could help me better understand the purpose.

check that page of the faq.

This is a forum for laptop drivers. ( primarily )

NVidia does not support laptop drivers and it is up to the OEM to provide them, however, laptopvideo2go is awesome and provides us with better drivers.

However, I do not know of the benefit for desktop users.

I'm using a MacBook Pro (GeForce 8600M GT) with an external Dell 20" display. The native resolution for the display is 1680x1050; however, when I set the active resolution to this I get a highly stretched (around 1.5x wider, and maybe 30 pixels taller) display.

This didn't happen with an earlier driver, though I can't remember what I'm upgrading from. I'm going back one by one trying to find where the bug was introduced but it will take a while. Any tips to save me some work?

for monitor resolution issues, unplug the monitor and plug it back in

at least that seems to work well for me.

I have the same problem with my laptop. I have a 17inch hypersonic-pc, amd athlon 64 fx-60 with 2gigs of ram and geforce go 7800 gtx with 256mb of ram. I had this problem once before with another driver and finally settled on version 156.66 version and it worked ok and have been using that one since until I downloaded this one. Can't figure out why the my laptop will say 1920x1200 and show fine but the external monitor (24inche dell lcd) screen is like it's too big. I guess I'll start downloading the other drivers going backwards until I find one that works.

Why does the first page of laptopvideo2go will say like the latest version is 156.83 yet when i go under news,######&nvidia drivers i see versions as high as 169.28?

P.S. And unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in didn't work. Unplugged and booted computer then turned monitor on and it didnt work.

Hey, I was assuming you meant unplug the electrical cord from the monitor which did not work. I guess you meant unplug the connector where my external Dell monitor connects to my laptop. That did work. Disconnected dvi cord from back of laptop and booted up. Then connected dvi cord with monitor turned off then did the FN-F7 to switch to the monitor and it was in 1920x1200. Seems kind of a messed up way to do it but it does work.
