JohnnyHong
Since i updated my nVidia Geforce 8400M GT driver to the latest one (167.45) on a 32-bit Windows Vista, i checked the name on the dxdiag diagnostic test and when i went to the display tab....it said it was named nVidia Geforce 8700M GT. I got more FPS while in game which is awesome! (revolving at around 100fps on Counter Strike: Source [all high settings and x4 anti-aliasing]. I have to tell yer i am very happy but i dont know if this is a BAD or a GOOD thing. Please comment! SCREENSHOTS OVER HERE! CRYSIS REQ'S AS U CAN SEE HERE IT SAYS "NAME" NVIDIA GEFORCE 8700M GT HOWEVER THE CHIP NAME IS NVIDIA 8400M GT!!! THIS IS BEFORE THE DRIVER UPDATE! ****NOTE**** THE DIFF BGROUND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING, I JUST CHANGED IT! In the DXDIAG notes for the RECENT picture, it says ::::: The file nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer. Now i am not sure if this is a change for the better but please comment i need feedback! Morris Lee
digitally signed problem is not a big deal, since the drivers you used here are modded by laptopvideo2go, and the 8700 name is probably just some inf missed renaming, I was able to display my 8600m gt as a 8800m gt with just some modding in the inf from the driver, same thing as for dxdiag that it still regonize it as 8600m gt chip :)
JohnnyHong
so my GPU wont perform anywhere near that of the 8700M GT? if not how do i rename it
