2D clocks not set on these either. (GeForce Go 7950 GTX)

No driver after the 8X.XX have been able to do that.

Only driver that did this was the original driver that was installed on my Dell XPS M1710, and I cant remember the exact version.

No, I meant, that by default you are forced to use 2D clocks for games when on battery and that degrades performance to unplayable level. But in drivers till 163.xx you could tune powemizer to your needs, for example I just want to turn it off at all. The clock (and vid) change 2d/low power 3d/3d are been with nvidia VGA card since FX5xxx series and powermizer doesn't have to do anything with that. I just want to have an opportunity to use normal 3D clocks on battery power.

Guest Gazer75

Never had any issues with the GPU being stuck on low 3D or 2D if I didn't want it to be. I have the opposite problem...2D clocks not working.

I was just stating that the desktop mode (2D clocks) is not set anymore for some reason. This means my Go 7950 GTX is running at 575/600 when I'm doing regular desktop work like surfing. With the original drivers it would run at 100/100 while not playing any games, even on battery. Now its running at 200/300 on battery and full speed on AC power unless I disable powermizer and let it run full speed on battery.

Updated my driver just so I could play the latest games like Crysis, which would display strange artifacts with the original ones.

Asked around why this is so, but apparently no one knows as I've gotten no replies to my posts.

It does?! The clocks aren't forced to 2D in battery mode?

no, they aren't. i just use force performance level: performance 3D in Rivatuner 2.06, and frying at 500 gpu, 860 memory on battery, everythig goes OK. :)

Woohoo, I finally came up with an answer!

To make PowerMizer not to interfere with our desire to game without AC power edit driver inf in the fallowing way:

;Powermizer settings

HKR,, PowerMizerDefault, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, PowerMizerEnable, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, PowerMizerLevel, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, PowerMizerLevelAC, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, PowerSaverHsyncOn, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, EnableCoreSlowdown, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, EnableMClkSlowdown, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, EnableNVClkSlowdown, %REG_DWORD%, 1

In this way it just doesn't forces to 2D mode (when in 3D) anymore.

I have a problem when i close the lid of my notebook.

When i open it again the screen don't turn on (or it turns on for a second and turns off again).

I need to open/close the lid some times more to do it work.

It's a problem of this driver ??

There is a drive that doesn't have this problem ???

My notebook is a Compal IFL90, with a GeForce 8600M GT

The driver runs fine. I did get one BSOD for nv_mini.sys, but haven't had one again.

My main problem is that the ANALOG external monitor is NOT detected. DVI is detected fine, but won't give me the proper resolution unless I plug in the screen after I boot..

My problem persists. I try to install the hotfix but it's don't work because my Windowns is in Portuguese and i just find the hotfix for the english version.....

I get back to the 171.16 driver, but the problem persists.

Someone that have the same notebook have this problem ?? it's a problem of the driver or a trouble caused by????

HOLY S**T Dirt !

You solved my problem ! I used your Powermizer trick in the .inf of the 174.74 driver, and since that I can now play smoothly my games, before that, even en AC all the games where horribely slow, everything that used the GPU was fuc***g slow ! I was forced to pley everything on low AND windowed !

I've just tried Call Of Duty 4 while being on battery ! Full screen, 1280 * 960 with everything set on medium and it works !

Oh by the way I own an Asus G1S AK092C with a GeForce 8600M GT 256 Mo. I will try some other game to see if it really works, like Crysis.

Thanks a lot man !

I'll need to register on these forums ... :)

Never mind ... worked one time. And after a reboot, all the performances were gone. Maybe it's a CPU problem with the power supply.

Crap, gotta play on my desktop. :)
