Guest Andy
Hmmm. 3dmark06 results. 167.45: 3470 167.59: 3462 167.62: 3459 173.65: 3487 My set up is Dell Inspiron, intel 2 core duo running at 2gh with 2MB Ram and a 9700GS running Vista 32 bit home premium. As you can see the 167.62 drivers are actually the slowest of the bunch. However in the real world, running Crysis and COD4, they actually work pretty well. In their favour, the 167.62 are WHQL and the latest drivers for us lappy owners...
WetSawdustDemon
Hi Andy how do you find these run compared to 167.45. Do you get higher temperatures? Also does your idle clock speeds for core and memory (you can view these via NVmonitor) allow the speeds to drop down to the 2d settings? Mine run at 575/600 and 200/300 but should also drop down to 100/130 when idle but however don't.
WetSawdustDemon
Okay I tested this myself, again the temps are hotter for this driver and the bus speeds won't go lower than 200/300 when idle. Perhaps it is something to do with the modified inf, as this seems to be a common factor in all these drivers. For the record I got 91C while gaming and 62C when idle. 3Dmark06: 5242. Also since I have the option of installing this without the modified inf, which of the 7950GTX's should I choose when installing, as there are three! WetSawdustDemon
Hmmm, maybe I need to clean out my fans! I choose the fourth of four 7950GTX's on the list of hardware when installing this driver without the modified infs, not sure if it would have made any difference, but now my bus speeds are locked at 575/600 when idle and run at a temp of 67C. Okay well I think it's time to go back to 167.45, hopefully they will behave like they did before! WetSawdustDemon
Back with good old 167.45 from Dell now temp is down to 53C and all seems well. Bus speeds still don't go lower than 200/300 but the temp is low enough that I don't mind.
gengerald
I just upgraded to these drivers with the modded inf for my Asus G2S and it seems that it will not go to screensaver/sleep. Is this inherent with modded inf drivers? Edited March 2, 2008 by gengerald
Dox
i had a 5 points increase in 3d mark 6 with these :)

Veriag
Hi there, I am trying to run the Age of Conan open beta client on my Notebook ( Alienware Area51 m15x) . I keep getting a message on launch to update my gfx driver to a 169.21 version or later version as the current driver version 167.55 is known to have stability issues with the game. Apart from beta client issues with the game engine ( atrocious FPS when turning and horrendous lag even on low settings ), I am getting constant crashes. From this I can only guess that the client is only recognising the 8800GTX desktop card profile. I have tried Alienware and nvidia sites which could not help. FYI Alienware informed me that they used a specially modded version of the 167.55 driver in the m15x series and that no further update was yet available for it. I have downloaded the 167.62 driver with modded INF and gone through the manual install procedures that are on this site but whenever I get to the 'browse for suitable drivers screen', I select the file where the new drive and inf file are saved but I keep getting a message that Windows has determined that that an uptodate driver is already installed. This does not give any further options for me to continue with the install and only allows me to close and exit. Any ideas guys? Has anyone else had these problems? V. I did - tho I only have HP laptop, model dv9540us. I tried various of drivers and it didn't work at all. :) . 169.25 didn't work either. SIGH! The screen goes black after pressing the "play" button. I don't F(&^*** understand why Nvidia fails to supply graphic card driver. I am staying away from Nvidia next time, and go for ATi. ###### you Nvidia, and you're truly pathetic. You grab people's money and run without providing any kind of support. Jesus.. Edited May 10, 2008 by misdirection
xMacLeoDx
Quick question about this driver version:(might not be quick) I have a Latop running 7900 GO GTX using 169.61 (mod INF) drivers but now I see you have 167.xx which are mobile drivers. Im trying to run Age of conan and was on the open beta quiet succsessfully(20fps) until the last patch came out which ran smoothly in remote areas(40fps) but seemed to have issues with Shaders and high population spots(citys = 2 or less fps at times). I was just wondering if anyone had tried 167 range for AOC, or if anyone could reccomend which driver I should be using for the game. Currently installing the pre order and would like to have this setup best as possible for the release. Thanks EDIT: Also is it worth trying the 174.93 drivers? Guest Guest
I ran AoC Open Beta on 173.65 drivers dated 9th January. I had the same issues as you in populaed areas. Am hoping that will not be the case in pre-order version of AoC, particuarly as Funcom stated this is a known issue (although they also say it was fixed in final OB Patch, which clearly wasn't the case. Not helpful I guess, but you are not the only one with this issue in AoC :)
Mediator
The modded .inf file for Toshiba seems to be missing and I'm getting a 404 error page...... any ideas on what might be happening there? I moved this question under the appropriate driver download thread. Edited June 10, 2008 by Mediator
