andygb40
Kills Powermizer in my laptop. Causing the clocks to be on 169MHz permenently. Not too good if you play games :)

Guest Guest
Unbelievable. With my 8400M GS I get only 3.5 on Vista rating for Aero and 4.5 for 3D gaming. Is this normal? I've tried 169.xx 167.xx 174.xx with always the same results. Any ideas?
cheshbench
how does this compare to 174.60?

I have the same, but when you use ntune (and let tune system work) with this drivers and sp1, you will get a score of 3.8 for aero! :) . And also i formerly used 169.04 for OC'ing with Rivatuner 2.08 (it's the only driver who works with overclocking). But i recommend these drivers because without OC-ing, you'll get the same result (4.7 for me for games), and the support and problems for games are better when using the 174.** versions. Any ideas? the windows experience index shouldn't be taken as absolute or litterrally. its not the most reliable of benchmarks. as long as you are hapy with its performance in real life games and use, then the vista rating can be thrown out the window :) how does this compare to 174.60? i've installed and will post my expereince with it once i played a few games. Greetz Jacob (sorry for my bad English) here is a way to bios overclock with the newest drivers on HP LAPTOPS (confirmed working by me on HP dv9500t 8600gs with latest f.45 bios!!! Should also work on 8400gs and any hp laptop that cannot OC beyond 169.04! http://www.mvktech.net/index.php?option=co...13&id=49308
la.ultima
Hi! I tried the modification (HP DV9778eg (F.45), 8600M GS), but i´ve got 2 Points that i´m not understand! When I open´d the F.45 Bios in Phoenix Bios Editor, i´ve got 5 Massages for unsupported Modules! 1 Massage for unsopported Language (Chinese)! Normal or risky???! The second Thing is, NiBiTor (3.9) has no support for a 8600M GS, how Did you the modification? When i open the extracted Bios from F.45, NiBiTor reads the specs from my 8600M GS correctly, but it shows the 8600M as a 8400M Card! When i open the extracted Bios from F.45, NiBiTor reads the specs from my 8600M GS correctly, but it shows the 8600M as a 8400M Card! i got those unsupported messages too, and i remember the one about the chinese unsupported language. and you're right that it reads as an 8400 but the specs are correct and it is indeed the right one. Editing those specs (500 core, etc) and reputting it back into the bios will work. I cant give u any guarantees because there is room for error if you mess up, but those are the same exact things i came across too. I edited the "8400" one, and it overclocked my 8600, so it should work.
Nm1
No problems. Everything's fine. My 8600gs gets 4.8 points then with 1.74 35 5.2 points 3d vista score aero went from 4.8 to 3.7, I think for 8400gs it is normal to get 4.5 do not hope to get more. My 8600gs is barely enough maybe 8600gt a little better, but I think only 8800gt makes very difference in gaming experience but too expensive. I also used the ntunes after a post I show, and it made some difference, even if ntunes does not overclock the card (I use 174.40). Also my 3dmark score went from 2491 to 2629(HP 9543/Vista/T7300/8600GS). I think you should try.

Guest Guest
I've got some problem while extracting the driver file : almost all files are broken. I've downloaded and extracted the drivers twice, but the problem still the same. Any idea ?
Nip
So as I was saying, I'm having problem to extract the driver. I think that the problem comes from one of my 2Go RAM Memory. Is it possible ? Edit : same problem with the 174.60_vista driver... :'( help me ! Furthermore, I've tried each one of the two memories separately on my laptop and i've got always the same problem.
