Just trying to get an idea of who uses what OS.

Will help with future INF updates, also let's see how Vista vs XP is getting on.

Who will be the champion, voting has finished for now and will do another poll later in the year.

We hope to also have text voting shortly, and a guest appearance from Simon Fuller :)

Which OS are you using to reply to the poll ?

* WinXP x86

* WinXP x64

* Vista x86

* Vista x64

* Linux x86 or x64

* Win ME/98(SE)/95

* Win 2k/Server 2k3/Server 2k8

* Other

Results so far after 4 days:

WinXP x86 28/26%

WinXP x64 2/2%

Vista x86 54/50%

Vista x64 22/20%

Win Server 1/1%

Other 1/1%

Those not listed have no votes yet.

Keep those votes coming, they make for surprising reading so far.

Looks like Vista use is gaining momemtum.

Better driver support and now with SP1 better older app support must be good.

Ofcourse this was bound to happen as it's no longer easy to find a laptop that comes with XP

[uPDATE 25th March]

4 days on the trot now.

Looks like it's a 3 way battle for supremacy.

Quite surprising to see Vista x86 twice as popular as XP

Also VERY good to see that you guys are beginning to use your x64 capable CPU's more :)

Linux results are dissapointing, that no one uses this as their main OS.

Note to self, do this again in 6 months or so.

BTW sorry, I could not for the life of me get this post back on the news and keep the posts as well (I did try)

The reason that half of everone on these forums uses Vista x86 is that almost all new notebooks come with it pre-installed. (including my G1S- can't even switch to vista x64... only came with recovery disk)

Would have used XP x64 if i could. Vista is useless- who needs dx10 capability with an 8600M GT?? I could probably get decent fps with xp x64 in crysis on medium- right now its like 19-20 fps while staring at a bush(dx9 1280x800)... firefights are a slideshow.

XP FTW, at least until I can find a linux distro that will read my laptop's RAID correctly.

I laugh at all you vista users with your graphics driver restricting DRM, auto key deactivation on upgrades, borked audio, and slower performance.

I use Vista x86. BTW, what are the benefits of using a x64 bit because I have an AMD Turion 64 X2 and it supports x64. Is it worth a switch??
