Guest Guest
at the end of installation, there is an error: Couldn't create a shortcut portal error... every time vista restarts, there is an dll load error (looks like nvcpl.dll?) in service list, there is a new nvidia service which is never seen before: NVIDIA Display Driver Service - Provides system and desktop level support to the NVIDIA display driver. it is set to auto-start. this service causes above dll error. stop it and change the startup type to disabled. andygb40
I said my problem in another subject but noone help me yet :SIf the admins don t reply our problems why this forum opened i wonder ??? If you are seeing problems with games "freezing" or "stuttering" with any of these drivers it is a sure thing that they are not very good for Your particular environment (laptop, games you play). With this in mind I would roll back to one that works. even if this means going for the driver that came with the laptop. I am starting to wonder why people ask such questions, surely it makes no sense as the drivers posted here are NOT supported by any manufacturer once you have used the modded inf, also most of these drivers are leaked, as such they can (and should) be considered beta, which basically means that they may contain bugs or other faults. Sorry if I offend any one but can we at least see a bit of common sense around here.

Rosen
Hi all ! I'm a new user in this forum and need some help!!! I have ACER Aspire 5920G with GeForce 8600M GT 512 DDR2. When I play COD4 , average temperature on my GPU is 90-95*C !!! I'd overclocked my GPU only 10%.... eek.gif I think it's innormal... Please help me - what is the best driver for my GPU, with good performance and lower temperature? Thanks! wink.gif P.S. Now I'm with V.173.80 driver, and idle t* is 57-58*C , full load t* is stil 90-95*C !
andygb40
That does sound a little high for such a large laptop. I get to those temps without any trouble but I am using a 14.1" notebook (Same GPU as you have). This is normal temperature for this card in a 14.1" notebook, but from what I have read it is a bit high for a 15.4" laptop. Have you ever cleaned the dust out of the notebook, the recommendation is to blow compressed air in short bursts into the air outlets this will dislodge any foreign matter and hopefully reduce your temperatures. One thing to note, I have seen a dramatic reduction in temps for all the 17x series drivers from previous 16x series drivers. As far as best driver for your GPU is concerned, try them out yourself. It takes a while, but at least you know that the drivers you are then using work best for you. I read what other people say, take note, then try them anyway as they may/maynot work well for me. Rosen
Thank's for advice ! :) My laptop is comparatively new, near 1 month, and I'm put it on smoothly table. :) I think the problem is different...may be.
Guest GattO
Suck it and see. Try it yourself don't rely completely on other peoples recommendations. It's not that the recommendations may be wrong it's just that drivers behave differently depending on your hardware and software environment. ehi mister. i tried both, what do you think!; however with crysis i think , beacous i'm not expert, there isn't a clear difference between these drivers...so i asked if anybody could HELP me with my dilemma! Guest rubenvb
I use these on a Dell XPS m1330 and they work great! Super performance in Gears of War with a 4.1/4.8 Aero/Gaming score. Have no benchmarks, but nTune reports temperatures up to 101°C when playing Gears of War. Had these temps with the official 174.31 Dell driver (which sucks), so I guess there's no problem. This GPU is supposed to withstand temps up to 120°C if I'm not mistaken. Best drivers for m1330 as of yet. (same performance as 169.09 or better!!!). GPU scaling works (not powermizer of course cause it's not in Vista, get that through your head people!) Keep up the good work LV2Go ! klmn
Probably becuase ya didn't download the modded Inf and put it in the folder.. Thanks, working now. Now I have a different problem. I just noticed when I went to look my computer specs that My 7400 go has only 128mb of video memory... It supposed to have 256mb. Is this Windows Vista issue or driver issue? Edited March 29, 2008 by klmn

nightwolf314
no installation problems. good overclocking too. however, frame rates drop significantly after a few minutes of gaming.
Guest GattO
however i didn't notice that this driver disabled on nhancer SLI and directx10 panel....!!!!!!!! came back to 174.60: the best! :)

"Powermizer" is commonly known as the SmartDimmer feature, which is in Vista :) However, these fast few versions of 174 either don't have it or it isn't working... :)
Shugo Wolf
This looks like a good one, I'll try it out ASAP. Amazing! One of the best performance drivers I've seen so far. Games perform brilliantly and I don't think I've ever seen Vista Aero run so smoothly and consistantly.

Read the nVidia Powermizer 7.0 Technical Brief. On page 12 it clearly states that Powermizer is in windows vista, but it is automatically set through the operating systems power profiles. Guest Guest
WOW very high performance, higher frame rates and better graphics but,.............wtf this changed my GPU from geforce 8600M GS to a geforce 7000M/nForce 610M how is that possible
WetSawdustDemon
Can anyone with a Dell XPS 1710 with 7950GTX report what the idle running temperature is like with this driver compared to the 167.45 drivers from Dell please? Also do the clock speeds drop down to 200/300 when idle or are they fixed? I'd do it myself but my bandwidth is really bad at the moment and it'd take me a long time to download these, just want to know if it's worth my time. Cheers. Quubik
Looks quite ordinary driver to me. Powermizer works for me and dont see any performance boost, it just raised my GPU temp by 6 Celcius idle and 8 Celcius :) while playing.
