andygb40
Installed okay. Works fine in windows, but whenever I play a game Powermizer kills the performance by throttling the GPU to default 2D clocks. No good for me, so back to 174.16 as these seem to be the only ones that don't do this. :)
WetSawdustDemon
So at least Powermizer works then! Anyone with a 7950GTX try these? If so what temperatures did you have while the system is idle?
zipper
About the same as 174.74. Quite OK.

GaryHook
Good driver, but not as fast s 174.60 for me 3dmark06 174.60 = 4098 174.82 = 4092
Elevon
I had run32dll error message on bootup with 174.74s even though they worked fine, however these 174.82 give me no such error message and work great with my Dell Vostro 1700 ( Nvidia 8600m gt) Spoke too soon got the run32dll error message on 2nd reboot, gone back to the 174.31. cheshbench
lol I know I had the same problem with 174.74... sometimes the rundll error comes up, sometimes it doesn't... I think if you tell the Nvidia driver in the service list to restart if it fails, the error doesnt come up... maybe that works but I dunno cos this error seems so random :) cant really be arsed to upgrade until they fix this issue properly (even though Im kinda still getting that error)
GaryHook
i haven't had any problems with any of the 174 drivers, infact the last time i had a problem was with 169.09 when the screen would filcker when minmizing and maximizing windows

Valmont
Driver works fine. 3DMark06: 174.82 - 5.153 (max GPU temp - 76C) 174.74 - 5.169 (78C) 174.70 - 5.110 (77C) Edited April 10, 2008 by Valmont
WetSawdustDemon
Temps looks good, Valmont what were your idle temps if you don't mind my asking? (I guess it might be colder in Moscow than the UK though?!)

(I guess it might be colder in Moscow than the UK though?!) Actually idle temp with 17x serie still the same - ~46-48C with DreamScene enabled. P.S. It was +23C today in Moscow - global warming in action :)
PG.
Had the rundll error more times. But its the ONLY driver on which the powermizer worked :) . Have tried the older ones too the 167.xx and it didnt work. I installed a second HDD to mine laptop and now bootup checkdisk, lost about 10GB data on both partitions. And data arent in the directories they should be. And I dont know if its the driver fault(cuz 30 percent of problems on Vista is nvidias driver fault etc). Or cuz the new drive .(Or cuz I changed some settings due 4GB RAM on 32bit Vista). The previous drivers didnt had the rundll error and the disk error werent there also. If someone had this too, it would be nice any advice. Edited April 10, 2008 by PG. mahowi
... Powermizer kills the performance by throttling the GPU to default 2D clocks. ... Where can I find Powermizer settings? Haven't seen them since the first Vista drivers (9x series).
andygb40
There are no settings for Powermizer in windows vista. It is controlled by the global power settings for the PC. So the only way of telling if Powermizer is working is to watch the clock speeds with a 3rd party tool (I use ATiTool with the "Monitoring" graphs set to run when ATiTool is not active to monitor my frequencies). anonymous1986
Does the rundll error affect the performance in game? I have had crashes in ut3 and pes 2008 with this driver but the performance is much better than the previous drivers so im gonna stick to the 174xx series.
