I had the driver installed and working... Walked away for a while and next thing I know the computer doesn't even see my vga device. I can't do the "have disc" install because I can't find my vga device to update the driver.

I've tried several driver versions and I always get the same message... It basically says that this driver was meant for xp x64 and this isn't x64.

What is happening???? It's driving me CRAZY!!!

Thank you sooooo much for your help...

the vga device is in the device manager and should be highlighted to you by windows to say there is no driver installed.

there should be a big yellow sign next to it.

all that is hilighted is an unknown device and a base system device... and i can't find my vga device

i've tried both with the "have disc" but they don't work with these drivers so the must not be them.

what driver have you tried to install?

and what is your graphics card?

try a newer driver like 175.16/175.80 and use the modded inf and run the setup.exe instead.

I'm not sure exactly which ones i've tried but i've tried a lot in the 150s and 160s

how do I install the 175 drivers, they're not on the website. do i dl them from nvidia and use a inf from here?

if so where do I get that inf

btw it's an 8600m gs
