KiRan
Hi, Please help me out which driver I need to upgrade with? My pictures looks like grainy on Dell M1730. I didnt observe this before after recieving my laoptop. Is this the nVidia driver problem or something to do with the screen. It has nVidia G8400 series. What is the driver version I can upgrade with. Please suggest to get rid off grainy pictures. I didnt tried with video. Just I wanted to fix the pictures visibility first. Thanks KiRan Edited June 13, 2008 by KiRan
Michael Marley
Did you update the Nvidia driver shortly before noticing the graininess? I have heard (and experienced firsthand!) some new Dell laptops having grainy screens, but I think it is normally the screen itself. If I were you, I would call Dell and get them to replace your screen. Ask for one made by LG, because those are best.
KiRan
Thanks for your inputs. I love Samsung screens. They are the best while compared to LG. I dont think so the problem with the screen. I observed same photos on IBM laptops. They looks same. When I see the same pictures on Dell Monitors they are really good. I strongly believe it was with the drivers. They might not be proper on my XPS M1730. Please throw some ideas!! Thanks KiRan
Michael Marley
I have/had a Samsung screen on my Vostro 1500, and it is/was very poor. (Right now, the laptop is in the Depot to get the screen replaced.) It was grainy and had a shimmering effect. It also had numerous dead/stuck pixels and defects in the backlight diffusion panel. With your problem, are you running the display in native resolution mode? If not, this could be causing the graininess.
