Jase
Hi there :) I've got a Macbook Pro with a 8600M GT - The bootcamp drivers are what i've got and nothing better. Now I'm getting a display driver error (seen below) Wonder whats the latest driver from 'you guys' :) OS: Windows Vista 32bit (Yes on a macbook just for games!) Thanks :P
Michael Marley
The latest driver we have is currently 177.35. (177.39 is in the works, but not ready yet.) Later versions of the Nvidia drivers really do help with the TDR (Timeout Detection and Recovery Errors). I almost never get them anymore. Just make sure you use the Modded INF when you install the driver.
Dox
175.19 is actually the latest. version numbers doesnt idicate which is newer. the driver date in the inf of the driver does. very important to note,
Michael Marley
Sorry, Dox. I had not seen the news that 175.19 had been released.
Jase
And I can find these in the 177 section of the forum room? It's all confusing! :) EDIT I'm going to the apple store on wednesday (tomorrow) to show them my problem and see what they say, might get some money out of them :) Edited June 24, 2008 by Jase
Michael Marley
The Apple people will most likely just tell you to update the video driver, if they know anything about Vista TDR errors.
Jase
But you can not update the drivers because they are the latest from apple. Not to sound like a uber newb - I can't find any trace of 175.19?
Dox
its in the news section of the forums. and availabe on nvidia's website. they have not yet been uploaded to this site.
Guest .nimrod
I just got a new 15" Macbook Pro (8600M GT 256MB VRAM) and was wondering which drivers have the best gaming performance in XP. I did search, but its really confusing. :) I hope someone can help.
Jase
To top your day off, spoke with them - It's a problem they have not seen before and cannot offer much help, he said to contact Microsoft. Instead im contacting this forum room! Where can I find the .inf file? I've got the 175.19 drivers from Nvidia on my desktop EDIT The 177 drivers mentioned above installed better than the 175.19 :) Edited June 25, 2008 by Jase
Michael Marley
Are the 177.xx drivers still working for you? On my PC, these have way fewer TDRs than other versions. And I am not surprised that the apple people knew nothing of Vista TDRs.
Jase
Yup they are working fine :) It will be intresting when another update comes out! EDIT Although I did just get my first blue screen whlie in game because of the GFX. So i mght update to 175.19, but the .inf file i used with 177 drivers won't work with the 175.19 :) Edited June 27, 2008 by Jase
Michael Marley
You should try 175.16 next. I do not think there is an INF for 175.19 yet.
Jase
These have to be the best drivers! My fans are quieter, theres less heat and all sorts of improvements! :)
Michael Marley
I'm glad it helped. I hope it keeps working!
Jase
But i've just come across a really big downfall :) I've just tried to connect to my TV Using the DVI-VGA and It picks up the TV, but nothing :)
Michael Marley
Have you tried connecting a regular computer monitor with the DVI-VGA adapter?
Jase
Gave it ago. It will not mirror my desktop, but if I choose to extend my desktop that works. :) So I'm happy that's working!
Michael Marley
That's very odd. Maybe your TV does not have the proper resistors to signal that a display is attached.
