XPS M1530 Factory Install

hello

I have recently broken my Vista installation on my M1530

was wondering if someone could help me with a recovery dvd or image of this system's factory Dell installation.

I have also deleted the recovery partition so cannot recover from that.

Please could anyone help? :)

Was a Vista installation disk included with the system? If it was, then just put the Vista disk in the PC, turn it on, and press the F12 button during the Dell BIOS screen. This will present you with a menu from which you can choose your boot device. Choose the DVD-ROM drive and press a key when it asks you to press a key to boot from the CD/DVD. Then, just go through the Vista installation wizard, making sure to format your Hard Drive and partition it again. When you are done, be sure to install the latest drivers from Dell's website (and of course, LaptopVideo2Go.)

I do have that... however it does not re-create the recovery partition...

also it does not have any of the drivers on the disc, and I am after the original drivers from the original install cause some games use to work with those drivers, and having problems with the new ones...

I know I am a pain... haha!

You do not need to re-create the recovery partition. A better idea would be to just back up your data to an external disk. The recovery partition is really just a waste of HD space.

hI all

I would just like to share

I came accross the following post... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=157838

and let me say that I am not sure how I did something else as after I did this, my laptop is flying

Its a complete re-install, but after I did it my graphics for Gaming Vista score (whatever its worth) went from 5.3 to 5.5 with exactly the same drivers etc installed.

The only different thing I did was install the AHCI driver at the vista installation stage.

And I am thnking that out of the maximum of 5.9 Vista score... my 5.5 is great for a laptop. Overall score of 5.1 which is the memory score. :)

anyone have any thoughts?

not bad.. i only got 4.9 for memory on my XPS under vista. Stink for me!

you might want to try XP for your system.. working about 10% faster than vista is. not as much eye candy tho.

Recently bought XPS M1530 and had nothing but trouble with Vista. Uninstalled and installed XP but now when I try installing drivers for 8600M GT system says it can't find any video card. Pretty new at this so will probably need remedial help.. :)

Just read the FAQ and use the Modded INF. Then your driver should install just fine.
