hellow guys i found this place a very interesting for me :)

so i got i problem, few days ago i got my vostro 1500 with a 8600m gt geforce, i use vista premium 32bit, what i wanna do is to connect it to KDL-40U2520 sony tv via monitor-vga cable, when i do so laptop detects sony tv and goes into 1280x768 resoliution, witch i cannot rise up to 1366x768, and i have black sides

as i find out, powerstrip (this oldie rooled some years ago for me)

doesnt support geforce 8600m, because advanced timing settings is greyout for any drivers i have tried. Then i found some info about EDID and vista stuff, i modified edid with a phoenix editor and tried to upload via powerstrip, and powerstrips shows an error about somthink like edid is probably readonly, So, as there i cannot see any chance to force resoliution, is there any body who has sucseeded this in vista with 8xxx geforce m series ?, my friend succseeded but he is in winXP.

Any advice or tip would be nice :)

Have you tried using the Custom Resolutions function of the Nvidia Control Panel?

Bummer! That isn't good. But, I think if you Google for it, you might find a howto about how to add new resolutions to the driver INF.
