Covert
Hey, when you have time, can you please bench 177.79 in XP? Thanks! And thanks for the chart! Did you read "ALL future drivers will be benched under VISTA"? :) Anyhow, if one driver is better than the other in vista, it will be better than the other in XP. 177.79 is the best driver under XP to date just as it is in Vista. Hey, when you have time, can you please bench 177.79 in XP? Thanks! And thanks for the chart! Sorry, I made a highlighting error, I had already benched it in Vista :) Check the charts again! Guest MysteryE
3DMark06, 1280x800, WinXP 32, SP3.177.79 -> 3889 177.83 -> 3897 and i noticed that the temperature have decreased too, awesome driver, the best out there! Really? This is different with my 5920G. 3DMark06, 1280x800, WinVista 32, SP1. No overclocking. GF 8600M GT 512MB DDR2. Acer Aspire 5920G. 177.79 -> 40xx 177.83 -> 39xx I forgot the last 2 digits. I assume that the difference is about 100 points maybe. And for the temperature, I didn't really test the difference. But so far I notice there are no significant difference. Hmm... Covert
Sorry about the delay in benches, I was in Germany for a week and just returned today. Enjoy the new benchmarks and thanks for the other people who benchmarked out of my way so that people could see some results. *Charts Updated* I will also be throwing in some Counter-Strike: Sources benches on the latest 2 drivers to make up for it :) Edited August 17, 2008 by Covert
Mushu
@Covert: So which one do you think is better? 177.83, 177.89, or 177.79?
Covert
@Covert: So which one do you think is better? 177.83, 177.89, or 177.79? The results show to stick with 177.79 but my mind is fixated on always using the latest one because of increased stability and visual consistency. Drivers with a higher version number have it for a reason. Go for 177.79 unless you need the Open GL 3 or like to have a higher version number like me :) , make sure to turn off powermizer using the registry tweaks though or you will get lag city when scrolling. Mushu
@Covert: Thanks, I'll use 177.79 with my other gaming laptop which has the 8600M GT. By the registry tweaks you mean: HLM/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video/{unique id}/0000 1. PerfLevelSrc from 3333 to 3322 2. PowerMizerDefault from 3 to 1 3. PowerMizerEnable from 1 to 0 4. PowerMizerLevel from 3 to 1 5. PowerMizerAC to 1 (is already) Is these settings correct? :)

alexdino
You can totally disable the powermizer by go to rivatuner then in Power User" tab set " ENABLEPERFLEVELFORCING" to 1 then go to Rivatuner's graphic card clock speed page and select "Force Constant Performance Level" refer to http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....80&start=80 for details Edited August 18, 2008 by alexdino

bilal
My personal benchmarks yield slightly different scores. All at 1280x800 no AA 175.63 3542 177.79 3625 177.89 3590 177.92 3614 So highest to lowest: 177.79, 177.92,177.89,175.63 OC benchmarks(600/450) 177.79 4143 177.89 4151 I guess overclocked 177.89 does slightly better. I havent done a test with 177.92 overclocked but thats the driver im running right now because of physx.

It plays CSS at a higher and smoother framerate than 177.79 too. I have a 2.2GHZ processor while you have a 1.8GHZ processor so you can expect our scores to differ slightly.
