Hi

I've just installed Race Driver GRID and 1.1 Update. When I launch a game, intro and main menu run extremely slow. There is like just a few frames and I can't do a thing.

My lappy is XPS M1530 with 8600M GT and clocks at 600/900 (CPU 2,4GHz, 2GB ram). I'm using 177.41 drivers and Win XP Pro with SP3.

Any ideas ?

Try different drivers. Your system is more than capable.

try 177.66 / 174.74

also (might sound really dumb, but it happens) make sure its pluged into mains. As when its on battery will always clock the GPU into 3D normal mode, not 3D performance. (overclocking wont work also)

@Andrew55, I know that it should handle that game. Also any other game runs perfectly with these drivers.

@wook (alt), I think I'll wait for a few more positive comments on 177.70 and try these ones. As for the battery, I know that it downclocks graphics card to save energy, but power cord is plugged in and I also checked clocks in rivatuner before launching the game.

The 177.66 are better imo. Try those instead.

Well, I've installed 177.70 (didn't follow Your advice :) ) and still GRID is unplayable. Although I can see a difference (it's much smoother) I can hardly do anything in main menu :/

Weird, I found grid very smooth. Try using the external option starter that you can download, Set everything to very low, see if its still unplayable, if it is. Then theres something really strange. But even when I maxxed it out for fun, it was laggy but usable, with just lots of stuttering when you turn.
