Softmod 9500M GS -> FX 1700

I would like to softmod my Geforce 9500M GS to Quadro FX 1700. Drivers that i have seen working are 175.80, but i would like to know if i can do the softmod with any drivers or do i need the specialized quadro drivers? For example can i download the newest drivers with the modded inf and install the card as FX 1700 or should i install the original quadro drivers to get the benefits in CAD applications?
