ctman
:) any NOTICEABLE performane advantages on a 8800m or similar, compared to 177.73? why going through all this trouble for maybe one or two fps more? trying to install drivers for hours and beeing disappointed that there is no miraculous incrase in performance and especially on a 8600 you can't still play the latest games... anyway... who buys a 8600??? Its the worst crap nvidia ever made concidered it should be capable for gaming theres no way around ATI except you want a 8800m SLI by far thiner laptops... with a faster ATI 2600 no hickhack with modded infs... download driver -> run a small app-> instal -> works -> performance increased ... think i should open a new topic... bothaus
Noticeable: I get 20-30 More FPS in Grid (@1680x1050, All Ultra (Max), 16XCSAA) with these than previous 177.x drivers. That's been the most noticeable improvement for me. Call of Duty 4 continues to improve as well.

rvalencia
trying to install drivers for hours and beeing disappointed that there is no miraculous incrase in performance and especially on a 8600 you can't still play the latest games... Geforce 8600 GT GDDR3 can play the latest games (e.g. Gears of War, Grid, UT3, MassEffect, Two Worlds, The Witcher, Blazing Angles 2, Black Site, Sins of a Solar Empire, Assassin's Creed) on 720p at near max or max details i.e. the same as XBOX 360 (8 ROPS GPU) and PS3 (8 ROPS GPU). anyway... who buys a 8600??? 15.4inch laptops with less than 1 inch thick. Its the worst crap nvidia ever made concidered it should be capable for gamingtheres no way around ATI except you want a 8800m SLI by far thiner laptops... with a faster ATI 2600 Please post ATI HD 2600 Pro mobility scores. Make sure 3DMarks06 runs @1280x1024 res. http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-...650.8839.0.html Radeon HD3650 Mobility. Please find me a 15.4 inch laptop with Radeon HD 3670 and less than 1inch thick. PS; My desktop PC uses Radeon HD 3870 and Geforce 8600GT GDDR3 (PhysX). Asus F8VA 14.4 inch uses Radeon HD3650 and I'm currently looking at it (purchasing for someone else where there is a greater need for mobility). With Geforce 8600, make sure it's GDDR3 and G84M version not the GDDR2 or G86M. G84M+GDDR3 version scores ~4x00 points in 3Dmarks06 while G84M+GDDR2 version scores ~3300 points. Known Geforce 8600 combos 1. G84M+GDDR3 Geforce 8600M GT 2. G84M+GDDR2 Geforce 8600M GT 3. G86M+GDDR3 Geforce 8600M GS 4. G86M+GDDR2 Geforce 8600M GS Anyway, 8600M has been replaced by 9500M and 9600M. no hickhack with modded infs... download driver -> run a small app-> instal -> works -> performance increased Sorry, this is not true (i.e. ATI Mobility DH Mod Tool). My work ASUS W3J laptop (with Vista Ultimate, ~14.4 inch) has an AMD Radeon X1600 mobility. nVidia DH Mobility mod tool beta is available for download btw. deathwest
why going through all this trouble for maybe one or two fps more?trying to install drivers for hours and beeing disappointed that there is no miraculous incrase in performance and especially on a 8600 you can't still play the latest games... Idiot, you even don't know what you are talking about... I play Assassins Creed, Gears of war, World in Conflict, Crysis, R6 Vegas 2 without problem. But you are right why changing the driver for an unstable one. I run 169.62 performs well and so stable that it allows any O/C, not like the crap here
