Guest Polling
I'm on Toshiba satellite 1410-303 15V adapter geforce4 420 Go (16Mb) tested driver v44.68 with his modded .inf Nothing works. The screen has black bars on the right, and set up automatically at 800x600 but not centered and is the higher resolution you can get. A part of the screen is cutted off. (i can't see the windows bar on the bottom). :P Hope to find something working soon :) keep up the good work anyway :)

ministeve
Pieter, thanks a lot for summarizing. I have to correct and some of my previous statements and add some new info. I tried 56.56 and 56.57, no way as expected (black bar). 46.34 and 46.90 have the black bar issue, so does 45.84. Using the latter , resolution is not kept after a reboot. 46.90 only allows 800x600. 47.12 works! But Dualview cannot be enabled (well, I could not find a way to enable it.) The usual check box at the bottom of the the panel is missing. One word about 44.68. It works (including Dualview), but the secondary screen flickers visibly when the Nvidia Media Center in the tray is clicked, or when I richt click on the desktop. Since I use my laptop for presentations, I had to unistall it and install 45.33 with teraphy's inf for 45.24.
®®®
ministeve, that ARE some interesting things you found out! thanks for testing. I will also add it later in here http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?showforum=11 :)
ministeve
To be entirely sure, I updated the system with Intel's 5.1.1.1002 and I tried again with some more time various drivers + infs from Pieter's site. I got the same results, so I'd expect the other drivers I mentioned in my last post that did not work, would not work either now. (Unfortunately I cannot try them again now.) 46.34 + 20.16 inf: Black Bar (BB) Issue, max res 800x600 46.90 + 20.16 inf: BB issue, max res 800x600. With this and the following driver I experimented a little bit further. When I enabled DualView (DV) and rebooted, screen went to light intensity 2 and could not go higher with Fn+F7; moreover there was *no* DV (secondary monitor off). In Display Manager, nView Display Mode is greyed out, however in nVidia Media Center nView Display Mode is active. 56.56 + 20.17: BB issue (size 979x768), when I enabled DV it did not work. Clone, Horizonta/Verical Extension worked. Secondary screen at 979x768 as well as expected. ms
Guest thosch
Toshiba 5100-201 and 56.82 - finally it works !!!!! Many thanks Pieter for the latest modded inf. I also had the white screen issue before logon with my 5100-201 and all 5x.xx drivers I tried in the past months. The new driver looks fine so far :-) Havent tried the TV-out yet (some older 4x.xx drivers made it stop working) but for a first quick test 3dmark 2001 runs fine (4804 points with default quality settings and w/o any tweaking) Will report back if any issue occurs. Cheers, Thomas
®®®
Toshiba 5100-201 and 56.82 - finally it works !!!!! :) :) :P VERY NICE. Now we have to think ALOT about what to do next with all those infs. Seems that only the OEM infs (56.82 is TOSHiBA) work s o m e h o w
Guest Chriper
I tried the new 56.82 driver with the newest modded inf (20.19) on my Toshiba satelite 2410-303 (geforce 4 go 420 32mb) and windows couldn't start. The system suddenly hang while XP was loading (XP boot-screen). I tried the inf-file from the 44.68 driver and then XP could startup, but the black bar was there! what can I do to make the 56.82 driver work? Guest James
Hey all, Just wanted to drop in and say, thanks for keeping this site going, great work, and truely a useful resource. Toshiba Laptop: 1955 Sub Model: S805 Power Supply: Not entirely sure, I now use a targus 120W power supply, if I recall my original one was 19v Never had a black bar issue (not sure if I've been lucky or what), had an issue with battery power for a bit, but I carefully uninstalled all the video drivers, installed the latest (56.82 is it) with the modified INF (20.19?) and it all seems to work very smoothly :)

®®®
This is a list of current products of the TOSHiBA Satellites (US) series, who must use 19V AC adapter: A line: A35-S159 A35-S1591 A35-S1592 A35-S1593 A35-S209 A35-S2091 P10 line: P10-S429 P10-S4291 P15 line: P15-S4091 P15-S409 P15-S420 P15-S4201 P15-S470 P15-S479 P25 line: P25-S477 P25-S487 P25-S507 P25-S508 P25-S509 P25-S5091 P25-S5092 P25-S5093 P25-S520 P25-S5201 P25-S607 P25-S608 P25-S609 P25-S670 There is some information from TS available regarding the use of AC adapters: Important Information: For Computer's Equipped with a 19-volt (DC19V) AC AdapterPlease note that your computer is equipped with a 19-volt (DC19V) AC Adapter. Use only the AC Adapter supplied with your computer or an equivalent adapter that is compatible. Other types of AC Adapters may have a different voltage which could cause computer failure and/or possible data loss. For example, if you use a higher voltage AC Adapter (DC19V) on a lower voltage computer (DC15V) that is operating on battery power, the computer will automatically shut-down and you may lose data. In order to restart your computer, you must remove the incorrect Adapter, and then remove the battery from your computer to reset the internal power supply controller. Or, if you use a lower voltage AC Adapter (DC15V) on a higher voltage computer (DC19V) that is operating on battery power, the computer will not recognize the lower voltage Adapter and will continue to operate on battery power. Since the battery will not charge, the computer will eventually shut down as the battery becomes low or fully discharged. Toshiba assumes no liability for any computer failure and/or data loss caused by use of an incompatible adapter. interesting, right :) :)
Guest Kasalic
Hello to you all, and thanks for giving me some hope that I may be able to get a driver to work with my laptop :) I had previously searched the internet for such a site with little success until a chance post on the Guru3D board redirected me here. I have a Toshiba 2140 - 504. GeForce 420 Go 32MB graphics, 15v power supply. So far I have tried 52.16 with the 9.6 INF file but still get the black bar. I'll update this post as I try other files. *EDIT* Tried the 11.64 and 11.65 ini with the 52.16, both still had black border. I then tried the 9.6, 11.64 and 11.65 with 45.85 drivers and got the black border again every time. I then updated windows using Windows Updater and now run the Toshiba 45.91 drivers. Richard. ®®®
*EDIT* Tried the 11.64 and 11.65 ini with the 52.16, There is a typo in most of the 1x.xx inf as ministeve found out. You have to add a commata at the SoftEDIDs settings and eventually add a "s" at the end of SoftEDID in your section. Guest Wolfman
HI. I've got a Toshiba Satellite 2410-514 (15V voltage output) equipped with a GeForce 4 420 Go (32mb) I tried various drivers versions : 44.03, 47.12, 53.03, 54.01, 56.72, 56.82, 57.03, all with corresponding Pieters's INF files. Zith all of them I have the same issue : the black bar on the right of the screen. In fact, when I look in the Nvidia pages in the display properties, it indicates I have a 976x768 screen...it should be detected as a 1024x768 screen (15" display) !! Hope it will help... Guest FastFret
I own a Toshiba 5105-S501 using the 56.72 drivers. The problem is that my screen is a 1400 x 1050 and the driver only lets me set up to 1372 x 1050, whcih results in a "black bar" on the right. Is this just a simple issue in the nv4_disp.inf ?
