Guest Alex
Hello, I recently bought an HP dv6000 laptop equipped with a T5550, 2gb Of Ram and a 8400m GS 256mb DDR2. I read up on overclocking and installed 169.04 drivers and Riva Tuner. I have a stable overclock at 500/1000/475 (Riva Tuner Sliders, although true values are a bit higher). Any higher than this and the drivers fail, even though temps never go over 65-68. Since I have seen reports of much higher overclocks, my question is how can I get past the drivers failing and achieve these higher clocks that I have heard of? Thanks. Neonpt
Have you replaced the INF file?
Guest Alex
You mean before executing the setup (after extracting drivers)?
Guest Alex
Sorry for the double post, but im pretty sure i installed the drivers correctly, could it be HP putting some kind security measure?
Andrew55
Could be a isolated problem with those drivers and your GPU that causes the GPU overheat safeguard to come on at low temps. You should try some new drivers then post back with results. Good luck! Edited August 22, 2008 by Andrew55
Guest Alex
Thanks for the reply, but I thought 169.04 were the only overclockable drivers? Correct me if im wrong.
Andrew55
No, your card should be able to overclock with newer drivers. Most 6 and a few 7 series cards don't overclock with drivers above 169.04. It also depends on the make of your laptop. But you should be fine. Guest Andre
I've got a Dell Vostro 1510 with an 8400 Gs, and with the Riva Tuner I can only modify the shader clocks, why? driver: 169.
Andrew55
Seems like a bad driver install. Try doing a clean install. Edited August 30, 2008 by Andrew55
