Guest noobie1234 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Share Posted August 25, 2008 Guys I just got a lenovo IdeaPad Y500 Series with a GM965 chipset... http://www.intel.com/products/notebook/chi...65-overview.htm first off it came with a dual core pentium 533mhz fsb which was weak sauce so i upgraded to a core2 T9300 800mhz fsb (no 1066fsb support on chipset) ... now the ideapad has two graphics upgrade paths either an nvda 8600m gt or 9300m upgrade path... is my laptop mxm upgradeable to those two video cards?? how can i find out... ?? please give me some guidance for this noobs on upgrading laptop graphics!! very interesting!!! Guest derp Posted August 26, 2008 Report Share Posted August 26, 2008 You cannot upgrade your notebook's graphics unless it already has a dedicated graphics card to begin with, and even then only if it's an MXM card. Since your notebook has a GM965 chipset, that means it has an integrated graphics processor, the Intel GMA X3100. This means it cannot be upgraded. Sorry!
