Ultimate drivers... Well my temp is 3 deg. higher than previous 177.89.

but 3D mark 06 1280x800 (no aa) score with 398/400/1151(core/mem/shader):

177.89,177.79,177.83- round about 1720

177.92- 1780

really good thanks!

Hiya, thanks for this driver, its boosted my framerate by about 10fps on some of the more up to date games I play.

I have noticed a problem however. If I run my laptop off the battery instead of plugged into the mains I notice a massive framerate drop off. World of Warcraft for example goes from 54fps to 11fps.

Can anyone explain this? I'm using a Dell XPS M1530 with a Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT.

Thanks!

@RedChimp: Try turning off PowerMizer.

are you sure this did not happen with your other drivers?

I have never been able to overclock, or even run at 3D performance when on battery. This is using any driver.

(modifying every INF/ Registry and BIOS setting i know)

Feedback concerning this driver does sound promissing. some good performance so far.

Can I expect a performance gain if I use this driver in my laptop with NVIDIA GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP) and Windows XP Pro SP3? I'm currently using v177.89

@Ali Bas: Yes! Some improvement over 177.89. It's different for everyone, but I'm not sure.

Maybe someone here can help me. I am having trouble getting any of these drivers to work for my Quadro fx go1000 in my DELL Precision M60. I always end up rebooting and just getting a black screen after the windows loading logo. I am using the "HAVE DISK" installation method. I have tried several different drivers from 163, 165, 167, 169, 175, and 177 series. Can anyone please help me? I think my current driver is 88.something. Thanks in advance. I am new to this. Sorry, I just realized this is in the wrong section. I reposted in the Support section. Sorry about this guys!

@bblancobrnx: Did you ever use driver sweeper? http://tinyurl.com/2g37vs

1. Download Driver Sweeper from the link.

2. Uninstall your current driver.

3. Reboot (Safe mode is optional if there isn't a problem)

4. Run Driver Sweeper and select "NVIDIA - Display"

5. Press the Analyse and Clean button and then do steps 3 and 4 again to make sure all NVIDIA - Display results are gone.

6. Install the driver using the modified inf by the have disk method or auto-install.

7. Reboot.

Good luck!

The INF should be downloadable from the normal link.

But the new version was relased and it says: "(...)Please give this a try if you found that you were unable to open the control panel. Only affects 177.92(...)."

@Shaythong

Thanks for the advice, and this is probably a very noobie question, but how do I turn off PowerMizer? I've done some forum searching and there seems to be a consensus that with Vista the PowerMizer option is lumped in with the vista power settings. If thats the case then I have set it all to 'High Performance' and am still getting the problem.

The other thing is I can't seem to find the Nvidia Control Panel - I admit i'm new to Nvidia, having always used ATI in my desktops but shouldn't there be an icon in my task bar as there would be with ATI Catalyst control?

@Michal: I think that's for Windows Vista only. Since the control panel works for me in Windows XP.

@red chimp

and for all those having problem with performance on battery..

1. download rivatuner 2.09

2. open the power user tab

3. expand "rivatuner\nvidia\overclocking"

3. double click the "EnablePerfLevelForcing" option and set the value to 1

4. now switch over to main tab.

5. under driver settings click customize then the first option (system settings)

6. Set Force constant performance level to "performance 3D"

7. click ok and u are done

enjoy!!

@RedChimp: You can follow the other instructions the others have told you.

In Windows XP, you can access the control panel by right clicking your desktop and click NVIDIA Control Panel.

post-27939-1219960735_thumb.png

In the right make sure you check "Not manage my power consumption".

In Windows Vista you have to go to the registry as well to edit the NVIDIA Settings as follows. This makes it so when you're laptop is plugged in PowerMizer will be turned off but on when it's on batteries.

HLM/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video/{unique id}/0000

1. PerfLevelSrc from 3333 to 3322

2. PowerMizerDefault from 3 to 1

3. PowerMizerEnable from 1 to 0

4. PowerMizerLevel from 3 to 1

5. PowerMizerAC to 1 (is already)

7. PowerSaverHsyncOn to 0 (Thanks Covert!)

Good luck!
