nosushi4you
I have an 8400M GS, which supports DX10, and I've heard people talk so much trash about it, so I was very skeptic to try it. Once I tried it though, I really failed to understand why people bash it. In Crysis, DX10 runs just as smooth as DX9, if not a *little* smoother. In World in Conflict, DX10 keeps a more stable framerate than DX9. DX10 has a slightly lower maximum framerate than DX9, but it has a higher minimum framerate, which is what I care about since DX10's max framerate is smooth. So, what are your thoughts on Direct X 10? Edited September 1, 2008 by nosushi4you
wook
DX10 definitely requires more hardware power than 9. In world in conflict I would get average FPS or 26 and minimum of 18 FPS. But with DX10 I would hit 18 average and minimum of 9 or 11 im not sure which. (This is with all settings on high) It looks a lot nicer, and if you have the hardware then im sure people are happy with it. Its just a matter of performance Vs quality. Plus the quality is not that noticeable when zooming out, which you need almost all the time with strategy games. This is what i think the reason is. Thats my 10 cents
Bill
DX9 in XP runs better than 10 in crappy Vista, not that hard to understand. DX10 by itself doesn't really offer any new graphics effects either.
Boobtastic
Vista WAS a bad operating system, and by bad I mean the bugs in it, the annoying features, its laggyness, the great performance drop, and it's load up and shutdown time. However, contrary to the Mac commercials, Vista is now a great operating system. I used to be on the boat with people that said Vista sucks, but after my third time trying Vista (some are too close-minded to give it even a second try) which was about 2 years after its release, I could no longer find any ground to base my claims that Vista sucks. However, people might continue to bash DX10 just because it is part of Vista, however that is unfair and unjust. While playing games on DX10, I see only a 1 fps drop (2 at max) in my framerate, my games undoubtedly run smoother on Vista than XP, and objects (like in Halo) appear sharper and to have more detail. DX10 doesn't offer much noticeable graphics improvement, but it does make games run better. Just wait until DX10.1 comes out.
Bades
I am personally very happy with DX10 and am fed up of people going on about Vista is the bane of all computers!!
Shakey_Jake33
objects (like in Halo) appear sharper and to have more detail. But Halo doesn't support DX10. The original was DX8, and Halo 2 is DX9.
