Satyre Posted September 3, 2008 Report Share Posted September 3, 2008 For some strange reason my 8600m GT (DDR2) keeps reverting to 8400 GS on my Dell 1720. I'm using the "determined by hardware" PCI DeviceID settings in NVstrap on RivaTuner. Even with RivaTuner deactivated this still occurs. For some reason Vista has decided that the gpu would be better off as an 8400 GS. Ive checked the specs and used GPUID and it is an 8600. Nonetheless at times (like today, yet again) the drivers spontaneously began displaying the gpu type as an 8400 GS. This has happened with a number of different drivers + modded infs from laptopvideo2go. Right now I'm running 177.92. Any thoughts on why this happens?
