upgrade alienware m5500 to ati 3650d th

Hey guys,

I know that I already posted about upgrading my 6600 go to an 8600m gs (nvidia or acer bios) or 8600m gt (acer or nvidia bios). I've been doing some research on ebay and other sites for pricing and benchmarks. Well on ebay I can get an 8600m gs for 179.99, an 8600m gt for $215. I have found that the 8600m gt has a significant performance boost over the 8600m gs. I also found an ati 3650 on ebay for the same price as the 8600m gs. It is the same mxm type and dimensions as the 8600m gs, but it has the same performance as the 8600m gt (only 5 fps behind the 8600m gt) but costs the same amount as an 8600m gs.

Does anyone know if this card is compatible with my alienware m5500. I think it has an ati bios. or would I have to flash the bios?

I have the 3650 installed on my xi1546, if I install Alienware bios the machine thinks its a m5500 and works fine. Hope this helps
