Striker444,

Are your scores using any Over-clocking ??

No overclocking, this HP ZD7000 is basically a desknote and runs very hot... thanks for the great INFs, wouldn't be able to maximize the GPU's abilities without it! But I do have a little problem, I cant have fast writes on, it either causes instability, or no gain in peformance.

Have a look at my website and your name will be in lights.

You're the first 10k laptop that I know of, that isn't overclocked.

What Driver version are you using ??

Cool, I just upgraded from 768mb in single channel to a gig of ram in dual channel and that took my score from 9645 to 10032. I am currently using 53.03 with your modified INF.

I wish I knew how to overclock my laptop, as I'm unable to reach any useful BIOS settings, as Toshiba doesn't like to give users access to that. IS there an application that will allow me to do this? Also, my laptop runs very hot as it is, how can I maximize cooling so that overclocking the GPU doesn't ruin the chip?

Striker,

Very interesting, you had better send me your laptop for closer inspection ( :) )

Website updated with new stats, hail the new King of Speed.

Ludic,

With my INFs the overclocking page is available.

It doesn't work with GF4 4x0go as they are just overclocked versions of the same GPU.

But the overclocking page definitly works on the FXgo5600.

Ludic,

This is what the tabs under go5600 should look like (well on my machine anyway)

The appropriate page is even highlighted.

Mmmm, the go5600 might be another GPU that doesn't have the OC page just like the 4x0go.

Anybody out there that has the OC page workimg with a go5600 ?

Toshiba 5205-S705, Portable PC Version A0.

Chipset: Intel i845D

Southbridge: Intel 82801CAM (ICH3-M)

BIOS: Toshiba v1.40

AGP 4x 2.0, Aperture 256MB, no side band addressing.

Does that answer your question?

Ludic,

In my INFs I've enabled Coolbits and also the actual setting for the overclocking page.

If this doesn't work then its the driver/BIOS stopping it from being displayed.

Will be interesting to see if other 5600 owners have the same prob.

I don't recommend over clocking as all it really achieves is making more heat for very liitle speed gain.

And I find it annoying the fans whirring away all the time.

But others can't help them selves.

Pieter.

My laptop doesn't support dual channel RAM =(

BUt it does its job well enough, and I'm building an AMD 64 FX system here soon to handle all the higher end stuff.... ATI Radeon 9800XT for sure.

I do wish there was a way to add more video RAM to the chip, as I'm finding that 64MB isn't nearly enough for what I want... although it was the only DX9 laptop available when I bought.

Hi, I almost have the same config, but mine is 845MP. I also have no SBA enabled. DualChannel is also not available, unfortunetly :)

Dual channel is available on the HP mentioned earlier.

It has a Desktop CPU (HT) and uses a Desktop Chipset (Dual channel capable).

The one thng I don't like about the HP is the horrible (in my eyes) 1440x900 17" screen.

It's an awkward resolution only really good for DVDs, games arn't really supported.

That machine with a 15.4" WUXGA screen would be awsome.

This machine is extremly power hungry but who cares with 3D scores desktops would be envoius of.

That's the main reason I didn't get a few laptops I looked at. I had to go with the 1600x1200 resolution on 15" screen. My screen looks so much more clear than Striker444's (we live 15 minutes from each other), although I wish I had the pure horsepower he has.

hi

first I want to say thanks for the great job with INF.

I have a Gericom hummer fx 5600 (P4 HT 3.06 GHZ, 512 DDR, Geforce FX5600 Go 64 MB) and I don't have any problem with the Overclocking page

I notice some differences with 3DMark2001 SE:

Whith the original driver from Gericom (44.83) my score was around 9600.

Whith the 53.03 and the "INF 53.03", "StarStorm Quality" and "StarStorm Quality & Speed", my score is around 9000.

Whith the 53.03 and the "INF StarStorm Speed" my score is around 9300.

do You think it's normal? (lose 600 or 300 on the score of 3DMark2001 SE)

should I try an other one or change something in my settings?

(I would like some drivers not to old)

thanks again and sorry if my questions are stupid

Say what you want but its a 17" widescreen and I'm living large and proud of it. What resolutions do you run you games on everyone and if its higher than mine are your lower fps worth it? For the newer games that support widescreen I run my max and the ones that dont support it I run in 1152x864x32 with no issues in quality or size. If I ever do get another desknote in the future I wouldn't mind having the same screen.
