Whats the best drivers for 8600M GT 256 for playing counter-strike and is there any tweaking ?

Sometimes i can drop to 80FPS in battles, and i use a 100HZ monitor.

Imo there should be no dropping whit this computer for that game ffs, IT 10 YEARS OLD!

Driver currently is 1.7474 modded.

Intel® Core 2 Duo-processorer T8100 (2,10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2-cache)

4 096 MB 667 MHz DDR2

GeForce Go 8600M GT 256 MB

Windows XP pro sp2

PLZ HELP!

I would recommend updating your driver to version 178.13. This will help your performance some, but probably not this much. Also, you might try changing your renderer from D3D to OGL if you are using D3D. My 8600m GT can handle CS1.6 at 1680x1050 with 4x AA, 8x AF, Vsync, and all the other quality settings cranked up to the max. It stays at 60fps all the time, unless I walk into a smoke cloud. That has slowed every computer I have ever seen down, no matter what kind of power it had.

Change the renderer in the game options under the "Video" tab.

Omg, you need at least a GTX280 sli to play CS 1.6 properly. It has shaders that are off the hook. With even a 9800GTX2 you would be lucky if you could play it in 320x280 resolution all low graphics.

Lol jk. Umm thats strange a 8600GT should tank CS1.6 no problem, are u running vista? But then again I have it on my windows vista laptop and i have a 8600GT. (mainly its on there for lan parties) and im always getting huge fps.

I overclocked my desktop and finally can play CS1.6 properly.

CPU: Intel Core2 Extreme QX9770 3.2GHz FSB-1600

RAM: Transcend aXeRam DDR3 1800 2GB*4

VGA: NVIDIA GeForece GTX280*3 (3-Way SLi)

HD: G.SKILL 128GB MLC 2.5" Solid State Drive

I got 25 FPS in CS1.6 for 320*280 with 16 bits.

.................

just kidding -.-

I have 8400m G and it has a good performance on CS1.6 except for smoke bomb :)
