Lyon
Hi Dox, thanks for the driver. I had been hunting hi and low for a suitable driver so I can play games on my hp dv9723tx (3gb ram, 8600M GS, WinXp sp2). In the past my games were running fine (COD4, FEAR, etc) and the nvidia drivers I downloaded and used from was 156.55 . It is just recently I had nv4_disp errors and BSOD with that driver that I downloaded and installed yours. Now I can play all games perfectly without any hassle. The trouble I have now is that when I try to play a video file (eg, avi format) the media player will hang, and crash. Then i will get the nv4_disp error. Why is that so? I uninstalled your driver using Your Uninstaller 2008 & DriverSweeper, reinstalled the driver from hp (156.55) and able to watch videos but unable to play games (I get nv4_disp erros or BSOD). It seems I can only use my laptop either to play games or watch movies. Pretty impossible for both. Is there anything else I should do to be able to do both? Or any recommendations on what drivers should I download? Thanks alot in advance!
Wayne_H
Hi Dox, I made a bit change to your driver today, added the resolution I need into it, and test it with NBA 2K9. Everything goes fine! I got above 45 FPS during the game with most effect enabled as medium or high, and stable 60 FPS in 1 on 1 or training mode. Formerly I can only get less than 30 with Dell's offical 176.44. I'd like to say thanks again to you, and your driver. BTW, is there any need that I install PhyX on my XPS 1530? Can it give me better experience in game? I have little idea about that driver.
Dox
physX only works on selected games: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_physxgames_home.html If you have any supported games you can enjoy physics calculation on your gpu instead of being accelerated by your cpu. This will make physics in game run faster vs cpu. However physics off in these games is faster than physics on even with gpu acceleration. Its up to you whether you keep it or not. Also what resolution did you add? I'll add it into the next release :) Hi Dox, thanks for the driver. Install the driver with the inf found in the alt inf folder. I think is related to one of the media function i disabled in my drivers. Hi Dox, thanks for the prompt reply. I have installed both variations. For some reason, I feel the oringinal customised one (non-alt drivers) is much more stable and 'faster' for my card. The media player I'm using is Media Player Classic. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling them. I guess for now, I will just learn to live with it. Thanks for the driver and keep up the good work!
sanzi
Hi, im newbie here and have a question :) My lap's presario v3407TX, and gpu's GF Go 7200. I know that it has only 32M *dedicated* VRAM but can get 96M from RAM in Vista. But recently, one of my new games says that its unable to start because I have only 32M VRAM. Looking at *dxdiag* there're no piece of RAM shared, and in my Bios screen i find nowhere to change VRAM share. Can u tell me if it's error (or not)? If NOT, can you tell me how can i change it?? And, i've download 178.24 from this http://completelyfreeware.blogspot.com/200...whql-vista.html but this very driver said that my card is NOT supported?? I wanna know if YOUR driver is different one (i see yours is smaller but dont know if you modified the code or only deleted the language part??). my driver now is get from HP.COM (167.43) Thank you.. Dox
I think its do with one of tweak limiting the use of memory to just the video ram (so no OS ram is used) I'll be sure to remove that next release or do my tests the driver from the other site is from nvidia so only desktop cards can install, My drivers are based on that but i modded it for mobile cards try other drivers found on this site and see if problem is solved
Guest David
In Vista, Dox's driver gave me a whopping "9" points, from 7184 to 7193. Bad news is, in XP I was getting 8400! I really do like some of the Vista features, but losing 15% of my graphics performance makes it a high price to pay
Triple_Dude
Hi Dox,I've read all the posts in this thread and I realized that you've done a great job(another bench mark thread proved that). I want to download the Vista 32 v1.1, but the FileFront really sucks! I'm from mainland of China and I've tried for about a thousand times before I know that I can use a proxy begin my download. Even that the speed is no more higher than 5K/s :) I'll suggest you a online storage website: Rayfile. It's very fast and absolutely no limitation to your file. The only thing they want you to do is to ask more people go there and download. This site is used frequently in China. However, I don't know how it works on your side. Just a recommendation :) And I have a question to ask: Does your 178.24 Vista 32 v1.1 supports the resolution of 1024*640 in game? I tried several drivers in LV2Go, and I found that some allow me to choose this resolution and some don't. There are two reasons why I like this resolution: One is 1024*640 will make me feel like I'm playing on TV (the two resolution have the same ratio so 1024*640 can go full screen and this will bring a little blur). The other is that my laptop will have better performance in lower resolution. I can enable more effects. I guess whether I can choose 1024*640 depends on something in the driver. So does your modded 178.24 support that? Actually, you can add your own custom resolutions in the nVidia Control Panel and it will (usually) show up in games! I think you can refer to official release if you want to add more resolution in your next version. Anyway, thank you very much for the good driver! :P Actually, you can add your own custom resolutions in the nVidia Control Panel and it will (usually) show up in games! Thanks. :) I know this way but I want the original support of the driver so that there will be no problem in any games. That's why I choose to mod the inf file. sanzi
haizz, I've downloaded & installed your 178.24. It didnt say *not supported* anymore but now I cant even log in Vista cuz of BSOD (well, i add this reply in Safe Mode). Ahh, I did Rollback Driver but nothing changed!! Believe or not, I'm pretty calm since BSOD was MY FRIEND from the time I looked for GF Go 7200 until now. :) I guess I have to reinstall Vista and use 167.43 AGAIN... Anyway, thank you so much for your nDrivers.

tuhintt
Sorry Dox for another Question, u r the only one i can find to ask some questions. Is it possible to 'disable' display memory sharing with the system ram by modifying the inf? As i can see, my 8600m display card is originally 256MB and but it is showing 512MB because it is taking ram form the system memory. also my system ram is DDR2 and my display ram is DDR3. so for this maybe my display performance is little bit slow cause of this sharing. Otherwise it will quote my first post. if you want more resolutions you can create them in the nvidia control panel by clicking adding custom resolutions. as for system sharing memory: go into the nvidia control panel, select system information (bottom left of the nvidia control panel) look at the window that pops up: dedicated video memory: xxxx mb system video memory: 0 <--- that means you have a dedicated gfx card shared system memory: xxx mb means that its only required if it is needed. so dont worry, its there for a reason I have turned off the system video memory in my drivers. Guest Guest
Hey Dox, Thanks for your driver first, it adss +10-15 fps on every game i played since i installed... i have a asus g1 lapie with go 7700 gpu and vista 32 and vista 64 (both dualboot) i tried your both drivers but i have a problem that the picture is more brighter than other drivers on games, allmost every game it doesn't meet game's brightness reqs. even if i move the brightness slider to faar left... it only happened to me on this driver i don't want to use another driver because these are the bests i think... is there any solution? Thanks, G.
Dox
strange, I have not touched any brightness settings in the drivers.... I can only suggest you go into the nvidia control panel and adjust the settings there :)
