psydog31
I didn't know which forums to post this in, so I figured since this is a GPU issue, i'll post it here. Sorry if its the wrong forums :) ... I need some help understanding my GPU's clock speeds. When my GPU is idle, these are the clocks: And here are the clocks when I open Furmark. As you can see, the clocks shown in the Hardware monitor are 540/864/1350. But according to GPU-Z, the GPU Clocks are being shown as 500/799/1250. Does this mean my GPU is overclocked atm? Note: My GPU right now is hitting 90C 10 mins into any game. So nothing is playable =\. I did not overclock it ever and am using Dox's latest drivers. Claw
Your GPU is not overclocked. It's just the Powermizer technology that raises your clocks' frequencies when top performance of the GPU is needed. The clocks slow down when idle for energy saving. Frequency readings can differ a little in various programs. Your GPU won't burn in 90 degrees, but if high temperature causes problems then you should open your laptop's back cover and clear fans and cooling system out of dust. If you can't open it use a can of compressed air.

But the clocks shown by the rivatuner's monitor are a lot higher than the default clocks shown by GPU-z (as you can see in the 2nd screenshot). 540/864/1350 compared to 500/799/1250. If that is what the powermizer technology is supposed to do, is there any way to stop it from doing that and just run the default clocks? Also when I try to underclock or overclock using rivatuner(followed the guide to do it), nothing changes at all =\. Edit: I forgot to mention that when my GPU is hitting 90C temps, the airflow coming out of the GPU is not hot at all, which is very odd.
