bombofin
Hello! Laptop: ASUS G1 with Nvidia Geforce Go7700, 512MB. Sound is USB DAC (Silverstone Ensemble EB-01) Using ancient graphics drivers (01/19/2007, 7.15.10.9802) found from ASUS web site, I have decent graphics performance with older games and sound works OK. However, I'd occasionally want to play some newer games. Installing newer graphics drivers from your site (for example, the ASUS released 179.14) cause audio distortion in both USB DAC and in on-board audio. Audio distortion is pops and clicks, occasionally audio is completely cut out and replaced with noise. Strange enough, this usually affects only Windows audio, not in-game audio. Audio distortion is only heard when some Windows-source is playing: foobar, youtube, wmp... Scrolling down a web page, for example, causes these distortions. The problem seems to appear with ANY other graphics driver than the ancient ASUS one. Have any other ASUS G1 users had these problems? bombofin
Now this is weird. I Enabled AERO and the distortion seems to have gone away. Gotta try more drivers.
