Covert
I only just installed it a little while ago, and here's my initial impression: Startup - Very fast, MUCH better than Vista, even better then XP Games - It' using a beta nvidia driver specifically for Windows 7 and is version 179.23 it got through windows update, games have a little bit more stuttering but run much more responsively, Counter-Strike: Source got 137 fps in the benchmark as opposed to 149 I get in Vista, but it still feels just as fast because it's above the refresh rate. Interface - I like it, Aero runs more smoothely, flip 3D is also much more smoother, some changes in the taskbar and system tray too which I find are easier to use. Internet Explorer 8 - Seems just like the old one to me but with a thinner tabs bar and a few other UI tweaks, it's definitely better and faster than IE7 though but can't beat firefox 3 :) Other things - Boot screen is cooler, my laptop fan isn't going as fast and the air blowing isn't as hot as it was in Vista, Start menu button has a cool animation it does when you put your cursor over it, shutdown button in start menu is easier to use and everything is more spaced out. Overall great, I will be using this as my primary OS for a bit :) I still have Vista Ultimate on my other partition should the need arise.
