Hi,

i have buyed few days ago on ebay an nvidia 8600m gs (acer bios) graphic card for replace my 6800go(artifact problem).

When i power on the laptop the fan is always off...instead if i plug my old 6800go the fan power on.

Any idea or suggestions to solve the problem?

I want to know if the problem is the graphic card that not works or if the graphic card is not compatibile with amilo.

Thx a lot :)

Luca

dont worry , the fan start when the cpu arive at 51°C, but make attention to put a good termal pad beetwen che gpu and the heatsink.

and of course some expensive thermal paste :)

like the guest said, it would turn on when the cpu reaches 50-51 degrees.

if it doesn't then i would think the thermal diode of the gfx card is failing

But the laptop after 2 minutes shut down...because the gpu temp reaches 90 degrees (measured with speedfan utility)... :) and the fan is always off!!!

have you made a heatsink mod?? that the 8600M Gs/gt need!

yes i made the heatsink mod.

I try to install NHC (notebook hardware control) and via custom ACPI the fan is started.

But the fan start only in windows.......

1. Remove bios battery for 30 min. Put it back on. Go to bios and get bios default values.

if wont help.

2. Try to flash different mobo bios. I think I have 1.07 version and my 8600m gs works fine.

3. Make sure you cut off 1mm off gpu spacers legs. Use only thermal paste.

I have the same problem on my AMILO PI 1556 and Geforce 8600m GT 512 Mo ..

It's OK in windows with NHC but the fan don't start when i power on my laptop ... often the laptop start and reboot every 5 seconds ... When it arrives, i need to plug the red connector of the fan on +5v on usb port to force fan to start.

I think it's a video card firmware problem ...

so is there a difference between 8600m GS and 8600m GT in manners of heat temps?

i mean do 8600m gt get more heat ?

and is it progammble with fan or not?
