akumu
Hey guys, Ive become fed up with my nvidia graphics card, it over heats a lot and I generally have poor results in linux as well. ATI is said to have better linux drivers since you can choose between the proprietary or open source drivers. I'd like to upgrade my machine from the nvidia 8600m gt to the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. I can probably figure out how to get the card out and replace the new card via the disassembly guide. But reading the forum here, it seems that there should possibly be need for bios changes. It seems that some people here have upgraded this successfully. Could someone post step by step directions on what needs to be done prior and after swapping the cards? Also, if after putting in the new card, it doesnt work, would plugging the old card work just fine? Thanks in advance. Well, if this doesnt work, i might just end up buying an EEE PC
Morris
I know there are so many problems with the 8600's, I have also done upgrade from 8600m gt to HD3650 http://techdaily.uni.cc/5920review/gpu/ this is on a Aspire Laptop though. putting the old card back in SHOULD work again if the new one fails at any rate, unless the card is not MXM standard.
