Games unstable on Macbook (boot camp)

Hello everyone,

I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question.

Problem:

Half Life 2, Portal, Civilization 4, Fallout 3, etc. are crashing (hangs & then quits) after ~5 minutes of playing.

System:

Tried on Windows XP with SP2, SP3; also Vista and currently Windows 7.

I run them on MacBook (aluminum) 13" via bootcamp (ver. 2.1).

Drivers:

I updated sound drivers from Realtek website.

Games are crashing even with sound card disabled. I am guessing it has to be the graphic card but I was unable to successfuly install drivers with modden inf under Windows 7 (this is what I am running now).

The weird part is... I can play Team Fortress 2 for 2-3 hours without problems!

This is truly creeping me out since Half Life 2 runs on the same source engine...

I tried reinstalling games many times.

Anyway,

If anyone has any suggestions on what could I possibly do - I would greatly appreciate it.

And yes - I did Extensive Apple Hardware test and found no problems.

Thanks for your help!

I have a similar problem with my Late 08 Macbook using XP SP3, with a 9400M. I can play Team Fortress 2 pretty well, but I get some random crashes now and then, which it's quite frustrating. I've searched the forums and found nobody with a proper solution. Should I install 185.20 ?

you can try but its not the most stable of drivers.

Have you tried the official mobile nvidia drivers 179.28?

No I didn't. I used your customized drivers, version 181.20. But TF2 keeps crashing.

Also, 9400M doesn't show up on the supported products for 179.28. Here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_noteb...79.28_beta.html

What to do?
