185.20 Not detecting external display (TV) via HDMI

Windows recognizes my TV with a HDMI cable - when I click the IDENTIFY MONITORS button.

it shows my TV as GENERIC PNP MONITOR, when I extend the monitor I can see the extension of the desktop on the tv.

However, in the Nvidia Control Panel when I click on DETECT DISPLAYS it doesn't find anything :)

maybe I should downgrade to a different version? or modify something?

Thanks

Why are you trying to use the old nvidia display manager?

They replaced it with the new one in the control panel since around the 9x-10x series. (also can access from right clicking the desktop)

Something must have broke somewhere when you installed the driver.

Either way its a beta driver designed primarily for windows 7 beta anyway.

Try uninstalling the driver and then install 181.22 and see if that helps.

You can use Dox's 181.22.1 version for some nice speed boosts.

So, I just uninstalled 185.20 through the uninstaller in Vista.

I rebooted, and ran the dox modded version you gave me,

Install failed at the end, here is what Vista is telling me:

Its in Dox's list for the XP version. I'll check the vista versions if they'll extract in XP but either way Pieter's mod INF will work.

Edit: According to this your card is listed unless its a special version with a different device id.

I don't know where your getting this "9600 GS" from as its not in the INFs for this driver.

You have to use the mod INF.

http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....showtopic=22785

See the mod INF link at the top?

You should read the FAQs before asking these questions.

ok, I uninstalled again, rebooted to safe mode, ran driver sweeper (downloaded latest version from guru3d)

rebooted back to windows tried to install dox's setup again, this time - this is what I got:

nvscshit.jpg

I rebooted, and it didn't work. I tried to setup again, and same message.

I just uninstalled all again, cleaned all drivers, installed Pieters version - got same error as dox's version at the end - cannot install service error.

What should I try?

Does the OEM driver work?

If it does you could tell us what driver/INF it is.

It could be that your just using a crappy OS though. :)

Hi Bill,

I formatted my pc and installed to vista x64 and then installed 181.22 - directly from lv2go

all is working fine now, it found the external display - but where is the option to clone my screen to external?

In the nvidia control panel's "set up multiple displays" page.

You know there is a guide from nvidia for the control panel.

Maybe you should read it sometime....

Thanks for designing this driver!

I was having big trouble with my GeForce Go 6150 on my compaq dv6000EA notbook.

The driver compaq gave me just wouldn't let me install a (pretty old) TV as a second display.

this one does =D

+3 internetz!

tnx,

Rick
