Galdere has pulled my arm for this release and its finally ready. I've changed the way the nvidia control panel gets installed and it means that it should definitely install. The side effect to this means the driver package looks small but thats no bad thing. I've also fixed the nvcpl.dll startup error for vista/win 7 x 64 users and added support for desktop & mobile geforce gpus from 6 - GT200 series. The drivers and installer were also tested on win7 and no probs. Have a look at "Whats new" to see changes since 182.46. I have not adjusted many IQ/Perf settings from the original but only added settings to ensure performance. Again thanks for the testers with this release (u know who u are).

This may be my last XP release, not too sure yet, but I've no love for it anymore.

Notes before installing

PhysX are removed from the drivers to reduce download size. You will have to download and install after you installed the drivers.

I highly recommend you fully clean uninstall the drivers before installing these.

Quadro gpus are not supported in this driver

Hybrid laptop users can install these drivers but they cannot switch to integrated graphics.

Whats new since 182.46?

-Added a minor installer feature: Installer will exit and close if it detects you are going to install drivers meant for another OS. For example running xp installer on vista will force a close.

-Re- enabled nvmctray: should fix errors a few were having of games saying they cant find the .dll

-Removed the need to be an admin to run the installer in vista and win 7: should ensure that people who have uac off will not have probs with the installer

-Removed alot of the directx and openGL hacks and only left in ones to ensure performance.

-Adjustments to the resolutions settings to be inline with Nvidia's release of this driver

-Minor bug fix to the device ids

-Added experimental dualview settings for mobile vista users only

-Done away with the different driver files to install based on each system: now mobile and desktop users will have same files installed, also this makes the package smaller than my 182.46.

Full Changes to drivers

ADDED:
+Mobile Geforce gpu support from 6-GT200 series
+Desktop Geforce gpu support from 6-GT200 series
+Extra resolutions missing from original set
+Settings to ensure optimal performance
+Experimental dualview settings for mobile users (vista only)

REMOVED:
-PhysX software
-Helps files
-Language files
-Nview and its associated files and reg enteries (XP only)
-NVcolor.exe (XP only)
-Nvidia tray icon (XP only)
-Unnecessary reg entries made by Nvidia
-Quadro files from installation
-Nvmctray.dll from startup and its reg enteries

OTHER:
*Optimised for Geforce cards only
*Different driver files for Desktop and Mobile systems
*Optimised the Nvidia driver service
*Improved responsiveness of Nvidia control panel
*English language only in the Nvidia control panel

This driver does not work on my laptop, i've tried 2 times.

After the installation, i restart my system and it just looks like i have not installed it....

I'm using Vista64 and each time i installed the driver i did fully clean the prevoius one.

weird, when you click install and the nvidia installer runs, does it run through very fast?

or does it pause and ask u whether you are sure u want to install the drivers?

Dox:

You have cured my migraine!!! Your drive installed flawlessly. For the first time since last November, I am able to fully utilize Adobe Creative Suite software. External monitor dual view is perfect. I was using your 182.48 (which I considered the best available) but this driver has become my much needed graphic driver.

I'm not much of a gamer, but there have been a number of problems with Nvidia drivers for the last 6+ months that rendered Adobe software less than acceptable to graphic professionals. This driver has restored the Adobe functionality. I now can do other things rather than stare at the LaptopVideo2Go homepage awaiting for a Dox driver that will save Adobe's arse.

Have a great Easter. You gave a number of us a great Easter present!

thanks pilot44, stuff like this is what keeps me doing what I do.

As long as the driver helps someone out there, then my time is worth it.

U have a good easter too.

cheers mate :)

performance is the same as 182.50 for me. (8400M G)

not everydriver will give u a boost unfortunately especially for current games,

there comes a point where the hardware will hit its limit, and no amount of new software is gonna get it pass its performance limit,

only thing to do is overclock i suppose to try and gain more performance.

If every driver bought increased performance then look at where the geforce2go would be today if that were the case.

Yes it paused and ask me if i'm sure i want to install, and i chose "install anyway".

Now i'v gone back to your 182.46

ok, so that means the install went as planned.

So what was it that made u say it didnt look like it installed?

not everydriver will give u a boost unfortunately especially for current games,

there comes a point where the hardware will hit its limit, and no amount of new software is gonna get it pass its performance limit,

only thing to do is overclock i suppose to try and gain more performance.

If every driver bought increased performance then look at where the geforce2go would be today if that were the case.

I was just saying it so other 8400M G user knows what they can expect from this driver. :)

Thanks a lot for the release DOX I am downloading now! Your hard work is much appreciated and just to let you know I think you should drop XP support if you aren't feeling it and just focus on Vista to keep you interested. Hell if people are still using XP they are living in the past its time to get Vista and a 64 bit operating system to boot. The second SP1 came out for Vista I switched over and haven't looked back and I am so glad! Anyways thanks!

Hey DOX something weird with these drivers not to sure whats going on. They added about 10ish seconds onto my welcome screen in Vista 64bit and last time I booted the welcome screen was scaled to the top left portion of my monitor and the rest was black. Everything else runs great and the games work flawlessly so really not a huge deal, but wondering why this would be. Any clue? For the record I did do the safemode/driversweeper install method so nothing would go totaly bonkers like last time for me.

Carlos_rpg from what I've seen the DOX 182.05 drivers seem to have the best overall performance for me, but considering the newest drivers have the most bug fixes and game optimizations I like to stick with the latest driver possible as to avoid anything I don't have to run into due to dated drivers. Hope that helps .

Hi Dox,

I've tested a lot of drivers so far and I think this one is one of the best I've ever had! Very good performance and good IQ. Thank you for this package and your good work all the time! I love your drivers! But I got one problem with your drivers since 18x.xx. Really strange graphic glitches in games with FIFA 09 Engine. Players look like scary "monsters" :) . Please, pleeease try to fix this problem. Each new driver has the same problem and I don't know why. FIFA Manager 09 is my favorite game and I like to play in 3D, but it's useless with your new drivers.

Apart from that, it's one of the best drivers you can get. No problems so far (Windows XP). But please don't stop working on Windows XP :) .

Greetings from Germany,

Visi

the 182.05 runs awesome for me too, but I was not able to manager a proper sleep mode on it.

the 182.46 show me a huge increase of temp ( I OC my card )

I think I must try and see if it worth the effort.

thx guys!

Hi, is there a way to get this driver working on a Quadro FX 570M? (basically 8600M GT DDR3)

I OC my card too and I have no temp difference between these and the 182.05 drivers.I thought I had a massive temp increase when I installed the 182.46, but it was just because I did not fully clean out the previous drivers and there were some conflicting files. After a clean uninstall with driver sweeper in safe mode my temps were back to normal.

TheVisitorX,

You need to test it with the regular 185.68 before you can ask Dox to do anything about it.

If it has the same problem then you're out of luck until nVidia does something about it.

Remember these are based on beta drivers, so they won't suit everyone no matter what Dox does with them.

Hi Galdere,

thank you for your answer but I've already tested the official driver from NVidia and it does work fine! It must be a problem with some optimization or so. This problem only occurs on 18x.xx drivers from Dox and I don't know how I can fix this issue :) .

Guest Anthony

Once again, I find myself turning away from the official Dell drivers towards your optimized drivers, Dox. No noticeable decrease in IQ, and I'm seeing a slight performance boost (I believe I'm finally hitting the hardware cap for my card). I tip my hat to you, sir.

Specs:

Dell XPS M1710

Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 @ 2.16 GHz

2 GB RAM @ 667 MHz

Nvidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX @ 625/700 core/memory

80 GB 7200 rpm HD

Vista Home Premium x86

Setup: Created three save game files to load up and run FRAPS with each driver. ~61 background processes.

Note: The benchmarks with the 181.20 drivers are old, and I don't remember exactly what video setting I had Fallout 3 set to. I suspect they were at a slightly lower setting than the latter two drivers.

2nd Note: The "Combat" benchmarks involved my character wearing full Tesla Armor and wielding a nuclear minigun (mod of course) against two super mutant masters armed with Chinese assault rifles.

Max temps for the drivers were 78, 81, and 81 degrees C respectively. All benchmarks run with GPU OC'd to aforementioned speeds.

Guest chomi_24

its very sad that dox will stop his XP support for his drivers, i didn't have a chance to use XP i went straight to vista since my last pc still has a windows 98. (it was a long time ago). But know I managed to install XP on dual boot w/ vista on my laptop. know i have this driver for XP. I have a file of dox drivers for vista (all of them) and will do same thing for xp...

Pls... dox a little more time for your XP support...

Thanks....
