If I replace the WRT.ini in the modded drivers with the INI that worked for me, will that work ? I mean, will that enable the extra CPL options ? I mean, will that enable the extra CPL options ? The INF may also be needed, but will be fiddlier to work with depending how far apart they are versions wise. IDT 6162.0 for WinXP x32/x64 INF v1.010 INI v1.031 This INI is specialised for the Dell Inspiron i9400 But with the same kind of PIN and \filter\ swap from original driver you should be able to customise it for your setup. This may be a stupid question, but I am having a :) of a time with my onboard driver. I have a Dell XPS M1710 (Inspiron) with STAC9200. I have the Creative Audio Suite that came with the set up so I already have access to EQ, mixer, EAX (biggie for me), speaker selection. I don't like that I can't have access to an audio control panel that really does anything. Initially, I had this computer built to work with video and since then have decided that I am actually more interested in music production. I am especially trying to use the computer as a virtual pipe organ and have various programs for that. I recently purchased GigaStudio 3 Orchestra to use for a virtual theatre pipe organ. My problem is that GS3 needs an SPDIF compatible sound card or it is forced into ReWire mode. I would prefer to use stand-alone, or at least have that as an option and not have to load up a sequencer when I am just playing around. I downloaded this file last night, but got the error 10... :) so I uninstalled and went back to my original set up. I really need an option for room size (reverb) that comes with EAX. I now have Dox forceware 185.68 installed. I tried different IDT drivers but when I install them I get an error message that says I have the incorrect hardware, etc. My question is this: Can I find a better driver that my system WILL allow me to install AND will it be SPDIF compatible? I have partitioned my main HD so GS3 can have its own system free of driver conflicts, but without a real sound card the software has limitations. I bought a USB Audigy X-Fi sound card, but that made the sound horrible with all the snaps, crackles and pops. From reading several forums that is a known issue. As I have a laptop I am rather restricted in what I can do to get proper sound. I'd rather not have to buy a desktop with a real sound card if I can get away with some work around. I have XP Pro, SP3 for GS3, and Media Center Edition (which after microsoft updates shows up as professional, SP3) on my main system. Machine has nVidea GeForce Go 7900 GS Dox optimized which shows PCI/VEN_10DE&DEV_0298&SUBSYS_019B1028&REV_A1C9EC08. I know that the system is using sthda.sys but there are so many .ini files and I'm at a loss as to what to check in which .inf file. Just when I think I have it sort of figured out, ouch, I realize just how much I don't understand. Any direction will be appreciated. EDIT: Just wanted to add that I have XP 32 bit. Sigmatel HD CODEC, Driver Ver: 5.10.0.5515, dated 5/10/07 HDAUDIO/FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7690&DUBSYS_102801CE&REV_1022\4&32D619F9&0&0001 Also, I noted that when I look at the sigmatel high def codec, there are like 12 different drivers listed. Does it have an ASIO driver with it? There appears to be one in the tools window but it is cut off on the right and possible settings for it are not visible. Guest alejo Posted February 4, 2011 Report Share Posted February 4, 2011 For me, only 5.10.6146 version from HP site have worked, and by worked I mean they have installed, started the device, but sound comes only from subwoofer. Speakers are dead, headphones are dead.
