erp-ster7n
New drivers for Intel HD Graphics (for Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge) are available at Intel's download center. Versions: Windows 7 / Vista: 8.15.10.2712 Windows XP: 6.14.10.5404 But now the big disappointment: The .zip-Files are password-protected. :( those ZIP files are no longer available. they're now EXE files AND they are no longer password protected (yay!) :wow: Update 4/30: thanks for all your help, Andi and Stefan. the generic 2712 drivers for Vista/Win7 and the 5404 drivers for WinXP are now publicly available from Intel and are downloadable - password free. GFX_Win7_32_8.15.10.2712_PV.exe GFX_Win7_64_8.15.10.2712_PV.exe GFX_XP32_6.14.10.5404_PV.exe GFX_XP64_6.14.10.5404_PV.exe supported hardware device ids by the generic Intel hd graphics 8.15.10.2712 driver: %iSNBGM1% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0106 %iSNBGD1% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0102 %iSNBGM2% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116 %iSNBGD2% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0112 %iSNBGM2P% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126 %iSNBGD2P% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0122 %iSNBGD3% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_010A %iIVBGD0% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0162 %iIVBGM0% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166 %iIVBGD0SRV% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_016A %iIVBGD0GT1% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0152 %iIVBGM0GT1% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0156 %iIVBGD0SRVGT1% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_015A unlike the OEM specific 2712 drivers provided by HP, Acer and Toshiba (which I tried, modded the INF file and failed on my Dell Inspiron 620 desktop PC), the generic Intel 2712 driver supports hardware IDs beginning with DEV_0102 and DEV_010A. The OEM 2712 drivers didn't have support for hardware with IDs 0102 and 010A. Update 5/24: the generic Intel HD graphics 8.15.10.2712 drivers are no longer available from Intel. those EXE downloads have been removed. However, ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte seem to have provided their own 8.15.10.2712 driver packages. nb-driver-p2542g-win7-64bit-vga-intel-8.15.10.2712.zip for Windows 7 x64 from Gigabyte (151.7 Mb) VGA_Intel_Win7_Z815102712.zip for Windows 7 x86/x64 from ASUS (274.1 Mb) Intel HD Graphics 8.15.10.2712 drivers from MSI: vga_iib_8.15.10.2712_w732.zip for Win7 32bit edition vga_iib_8.15.10.2712_w764.zip for Win7 64bit edition good news is that these driver packages could also work on other Desktop/Laptop machines with Intel HD Graphics 2000/3000/4000 hardware, not just limited to only Asus, Gigabyte & MSI brands. teerex
There is only one driver file inside the package. You can draw the logical conclusion from that. (Chipset 5 Series/ 3400 on Sony Vaio Z12, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_905A104D&REV_02)? Likely because the recent batch of IGP drivers are made for 2nd and 3rd generations of Intel Core CPUs, while the 5 series chipsets are made for 1st generation Core CPUs. erp-ster7n
Hi, why would the installer say "The system doesn't meet the minimal requirements"? (Chipset 5 Series/ 3400 on Sony Vaio Z12, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_905A104D&REV_02)? that's because version 9.17.10.2729 of that driver does NOT support your hardware, gr9zev. just like as what tribaljet was saying earlier. your hardware ID begins with PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046 supported hardware device ID #s for Intel HD Graphics driver v9.17.10.2729 (as I've checked the igdlh64.inf file myself): %iSNBGM1% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0106 %iSNBGD1% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0102 %iSNBGM2% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116 %iSNBGD2% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0112 %iSNBGM2P% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126 %iSNBGD2P% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0122 %iSNBGD3% = iSNBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_010A %iIVBGD0% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0162 %iIVBGM0% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166 %iIVBGD0SRV% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_016A %iIVBGD0GT1% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0152 %iIVBGM0GT1% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0156 %iIVBGD0SRVGT1% = iIVBD0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_015A DEV_0046 ain't on the list (just like my brother's Sony VAIO VPCEB44FX laptop which uses Intel HD graphics hardware using a hardware device id beginning with "0046") in that INF file. therefore, you won't be able to install that newest driver [9.17.10.2729] on your computer. sorry gr9zev. you'll have to use Intel HD Graphics driver version 8.15.10.2622 (aka. v15.22.54.2622 or v15.22.54.64.2622), which is the latest one that supports your intel graphics hardware. although I could potentially install v9.17.10.2729 of the Intel HD Graphics driver on my Dell Inspiron 620 desktop computer (which has hardware ID# beginning with PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0102), I chose not to install that one. I'm happy with the 2712 build. Edited May 9, 2012 by erp-ster7n

kaylord
Hi all and sorry for the nooby question; I have a Dell Latitude E5520 with an intel graphics HD 3000. Shortly; Dell doesn't update the driver package since 06/2011 and actually their driver are obsolete (many video mode missing, i.e.). How can I install the updated native drivers from Intel? I tried to download them and apparently, I installed them correctly... but after that, got some probs in windows visualization and also Aero stopped working (troubleshooting didn't help). I had to rollback on them... Here are details from dev manager: Hardware IDs: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&SUBSYS_049A1028&REV_09 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&SUBSYS_049A1028 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&CC_030000 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&CC_0300 Compatible IDs: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&REV_09 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126 PCI\VEN_8086&CC_030000 PCI\VEN_8086&CC_0300 PCI\VEN_8086 PCI\CC_030000 PCI\CC_0300 I'm using Win 7 professional... Really need your help as Diablo 3 runs dramatically at native resolution while goes smooth downscaling... the prob is that Dell's outdated package has a really limited set of supported res :'( EDIT: I did a mess, anyway I was able to install 8.15.10.2696...not the latest driver available on win 7 64 bit, anyway more recent that the previous Dell package I had. By now, Windows Update tells there's no updated driver for the device ( probably because of SUBSYS_049A1028 id string?). What's strange is that the system analyzer tool on Win 7 reports that the overall performance have been decreased w.r.t. the older drivers. In particular: AERO performance passed from 6.3 to 5.9 (!!!!!) 3D Gaming passed from 6.3 to 6.2 I'm quite happy anyway, supported video modes are now more that the 4 basic modes offered by Dell's package driver. Softpedia simply links to them. And there are also Intel HD Graphics drivers v9.17.10.2736 for Windows 8 Consumer Preview posted at Microsoft Update Catalog as well. btw, version 8.15.10.2712 of the generic Intel HD Graphics driver EXE downloads have been removed from the Intel download site. but see my post (105) on the 2712 driver packages provided by ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte. and I've just installed v8.15.10.2752 of the Intel HD graphics driver provided by Microsoft Update Catalog on the Dell Inspiron 620 desktop computer and it worked great Edited May 24, 2012 by erp-ster7n

tribaljet
Does anyone have benchmark numbers from different driver releases? So far, I've only noticed a rather significant performance increase from 25xx to 26xx releases, but most 26xx releases seem to have similar performance, and 27xx haven't shown any noticeable performance improvement, although they are more stable on Optimus enabled systems. lordkag
I seems Intel has replaced 2712 drivers with a new version of 2696. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21135 They are dated 05.16.2012 and they have an extra x64 (and maybe also x86) folder. Not sure if they are entirely new, but I think they have pushed them to solve the not-updating-MediaSDK bug in the 2712.
tribaljet
what's the web site where users can calculate and perform benchmark numbers with the Intel HD Graphics drivers? That's the first I'm hearing about it, and I would very much like to check it. Care to post the link?
