I have motherboard MSI PH61A-P35 (B3) which have Realtek chip with hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_1462D732&REV_1003"

Do i need to convert FF00 ?

And can i use UAD driver instead of HDA ?

I am using Windows 10 Version 1809 64 bit

@mah.bader

Windows 10 version 1809 (build 17763) is very buggy and has caused serious problems (Microsoft seemed to have prematurely released  the 1809 version and will re-release the 1809 version either by the end of October or the start of November) - I temporarily downgraded some machines from 1809 to the 1803 version until Microsoft provides some crucial bug fixes for 1809.  I'll wait for Microsoft for the "re-released" version of 1809 to be available.

also you need to uninstall Realtek HDA driver first before installing Realtek UAD driver since HDA & UAD drivers use different structures.  you can only use some UAD drivers that include the HDXRT.INF and HDX_GenericExt_RTK.INF files as these two files are not always included in all UAD drivers.  ask alanfox2000 on which UAD driver version to use for your MSI PH61A-P35 board.

I won't be online in these forums much since I'm happy using the 8551 HDA driver on some of my machines running Win7/8.1/ Win10 LTSB 2016 and 8560 UAD driver on my custom built PC with the Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 board using Win10 education edition v1803.  Next driver update for UAD/HDA for me might be somewhere in the 8570s.

it depends on which version of Dolby you are talking about since Dolby comes in many different forms [aka. Dolby PCEE4 (v4), Dolby DS1 (aka Dolby Digital Plus), Dolby DAX2/DAX3, DDL, etc.]

DAX = digital audio extensions

DDL = dolby digital live > this one is used thru SPDIF audio connections only

Dolby (desktop version) works with any FFxx HDA driver

Yep, and I went from ssd to nvme on my new MSI board (might as well since the Gigabyte board died) and my copy was 1703.  I tried to update a driver and they forced me to update to 1803 which is what I have.  Strangely enough the old SSD (now drive D) has 1809 on it that they shoved down my throat.

This audio issue is beyond a single version of Windows issue as it transcends that.  W10 is the biggest pile of issues I have ever had from them and sadly this is the last Windows version they are making as they are trying to transition over to their Windows as a service model.  I have one game, Photoshop, and one CAD program that demands me on Windows but I am seriously wondering how Linux is these days.

I kinda use the LTSB/LTSC versions of Win10 (especially LTSB 2016 v1607) on some older PCs like my HP pavilion m8417c computer, which only gets cumulative updates and never feature upgrades like 1703 & higher.  and I can also use tools like WUMT (windows update minitool) or WUB (windows update blocker) from here to block forced win10 updates/upgrades AND setting all internet connections to "metered".  those using Win10 home editions don't get a choice to delay or defer updates but at least in Win10 pro, the options to delay updates are available.

also the audio popping and crackling issues are not limited to Realtek as they happen sometimes with other audio hardware from Conexant (recently owned by Synaptics), IDT/Sigmatel, Creative & VIA and the causes of them vary.  though I get them on some occasions and not as frequently as you are experiencing.

unrelated note: for those using certain Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 3 laptop PCs, a customized v6.0.1.8551 HDA/SST (nonUAD) Dolby DAX3 driver is available from the Lenovo support site that fixes an APO crash with the Realtek audio driver (release notes for 8551 from Lenovo)

That proves it is a Windows 10 issue as I never had that on W7 and I don't get that in Linux Mint either.

I have a Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming 5 motherboard with an ALC1220 Realtek chip (actually 2 of them).

Will any of these drivers let me use Dolby Digital Live and/or DTS Interactive? My old GA-990FXA-UD3 with ALC889 had both, just with the Realtek drivers from the Gigabyte website, but not the new board.

Osirus, you probably need a modded Realtek HDA (nonUAD) audio driver that will enable the DDL (dolby digital live) and DTS interactive features mentioned in the Techpowerup forums.

normal (un-modded) Realtek drivers will not provide those DDL/DTS-I options for your GA-AX370 gaming 5 board as that board originally comes with Creative SoundBlaster X-FI MB5 audio enhancement support as noted in the board's specs on the Gigabyte web site.

unrelated note: v6.0.1.8560 from Microsoft Update Catalog

that is correct Osirus because DDL &DTSi are not fully integrated nor compatible with UAD drivers; no "patcher" is available for UAD

use only nonUAD / HDA (FFxx) Realtek audio drivers when using the DDL & DTS-I features (and these features require SPDIF "digital out" connections either thru coaxial or optical ports at the back of the PC and these features are useless with standard analog or even 2-speaker stereo connections)

also look at this page (archived at Wayback machine) {note: this guy is no longer using modded Realtek audio drivers as he's currently using a Soundblaster Z sound card with the required DDL/DTSi options}

unrelated note: v6.0.1.8564 from Microsoft Update Catalog (currently a UAD driver for some ASUS based PCs only)

also new Realtek web site; old Realtek site (www.realtek.com.tw) has been retired and redirects to new site

That's fine. I really don't like UWP/Windows Store stuff anyway. HDA is good for me so long as they keep releasing them.

no worrise, Osirus.  Realtek will continue to release both new HDA and UAD drivers.  HDA drivers work on Vista/Win7/Win8/Win10 while UAD drivers work on Win10 RS2+ only and UAD drivers are not compatible with Win10 versions less than v1703

Windows 10 build 1809 (October 2018 Update) has not been re-released yet and there are still a bunch of problems with it though I am currently beta testing build 17763.107 (KB4464455 V2 for 1809) on a test computer, which seems to fix most of the problems.  Suggest rolling back or reverting to v1803 until Microsoft re-offers the 1809 version with the bugfixes from KB4464455-v2 later this November.

only HDA (non-UAD) version of 8569 works on Win10 v1607, Haikal_Muzafar.

UAD drivers require Win10 RS2 (v1703) & higher.   HDA drivers, on the other hand, work with Vista/Win7/Win8x/Win10

EDIT: Other users are reporting the same problem. I've got a Dell support person looking into it.
