ok 8365 is back on MS but it's a different package

this is the first 8365 x64 driver pack from MS (10.4Mb); and here's the new 8365 x64 download (44.6Mb)

supported hardware ID for the new 8365 package

subsystem id beginning with "1028" means the vendor id is Dell

What's the difference between non-SST drivers and the SST ones?

I can't seem to install the SST drivers with device manager.

what is your hardware device ID number of your Realtek audio device?

SST-based Realtek drivers use hardware IDs beginning with INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC

non-SST based Realtek drivers use hardware IDs beginning with HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC

you can't install SST drivers if your computer does not have any SST-based audio devices; plus the current 8365 drivers only install on select few SST based Realtek audio devices with specific hardware IDs; yours may not be on the list

Thanks for the explanation.

My bad, indeed my hardware ID begins with HDAUDIO therefore it's non-SST

I've mistaken Speed Shift Technology for Smart Sound Technology on my laptop, downloaded 8366 and now it works like a charm.

ok though you did not fully answer my original question - what is your hardware device ID number of your Realtek audio device?

ex. on an old Hewlett-Packard M8417C media center desktop PC I have, it uses a Realtek ALC888S audio chip with hardware id "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_103C2A6C"

the v8366 drivers include the crucial HDXRT.INF file (unlike v8365), which should install on almost any Realtek HD audio device (excluding SST based Realtek devices).

just in: v6.0.1.8311 (old) from Acer [for Acer Aspire A114-32 laptop] - bundles Dolby DS1, DAX2 & DAX3 apps

Sorry, I thought that wasn't necessary.

My hardware id is:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_1025110F&REV_1000

Perhaps you can tell me which driver is the best for it?

latest driver for that hardware ID is v6.0.1.8323 from MS Update Catalog.

but you can use the 8366 driver since that ID is also mentioned in the HDXRT4.inf file.  you can remove all the other INF files and keep only the HDXRT.inf & HDXRT4.inf files to shorten the driver setup time as they are not needed.

just in: v6.0.1.8371 from MS Update Catalog - for Win10 x64 only and for Huawei Device Co Ltd based Realtek audio devices only; not for Realtek audio chips on other OEM manufacturers

supported hardware ID listed for 8371

edit 3/2: also in - v6.0.1.8351 w/ MaxxAudio Integration from Dell [for Dell Optiplex 3050/5250/7450 AIO PCs only - not compatible with modern Dell Studio XPS laptops] - only includes HDAADC.inf/HDAADCMax8.inf files for 32bit Win10 and HDXADC.inf/HDXADCMax8.inf/HDXADCMax8S.inf files for 64bit Win10

and Realtek v8378 WHQL w/ Nahimic integration (generic - not just for ASUS) [I saw this listed in the Ten Forums site; also mentioned in the Nahimic community help & share support site to be compatible with the newly released Nahimic audio software v2.5.29]

the 7.3Mb 8372 cab driver pack seems to have lots of INF files but it looks like it's a "bare bones" driver - just basic audio driver with no control panel UI and no enhancements included

v6.0.1.8356 from Lenovo (Thinkpad Yoga 11e 5th gen download) [11.3Mb],  (Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th gen download)  [88.9Mb]
