Sigmatel C Major Audio Drivers for Windows 7

Hi

I have an Elonex Exentia PC which I have recently upgraded from XP (Media Centre Edition)to Windows 7. The soundcard I have is a SigmaTel STAC9758/59 @ Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3] and I have been using the original drivers that came with the PC (SigmaTel 6.14.1.4175)as Windows 7 did not detect the sound card and there do not seem to be any updated drivers that seem to work or install (I have tried the Dell and Gateway ones as others have recommended on other forums and Elonex do not support this PC since they went bust and reappeared!). The issue I have is that the speaker set up on the PC (it is all built in) is 2.1 but the subwoofer no longer works despite trying all the settings in the control panel in Windows 7. (If I try the 5.1 setting it blue screens the pc and then crashes). I restored XP and it worked fine and then reinstalled Windows 7 but still have the same problem. I have tried the Sigmatel Control panel but that does not work correctly either (the sub does not seem active but it tries to output in 5.1 where as in XP it output in 2.1) Can anyone please help!!!!!

I sorta had the same issue. I got the latest driver from Intel's website. Modded 2 files by inserting my hardware id in a few spots, and then pointed them to the M4-11DM.INI file. I was lucky, everything works great now. I used the main .ini(M4-11DM.INI) from the original working driver. You'll have to find out which one your hardware uses.

For my driver install, it consists of 3 .ini/.inf files.

STWRT64.INF (64bit version) - modded

stwrt64.ini (64bit version) - modded

M4-11DM.INI (just an example, yours will most likely be a different name)- left alone.

I think mine worked because Vista and Windows 7 are very similar. XP is a lot different than Windows 7. I'm not sure if it will work. Good luck.
