Gateway 6860FX & Windows 7 x64

I've not tried to install the audio drivers provided here before and could use some help or a guide.

I've just installed Windows 7 onto my Gateway 6860FX and although the Win7 drivers work, I'd like to install the official IDT/Sigmatel drivers.

I downloaded the unmodded drivers, but found no "setup" to even try to install them... I tried the modded drivers, but those failed to run after the restart and Windows was forced to install the old drivers.

Thanks for any tips or help.

Hey Man, I have the exact same setup as you (p6860fx windows 64 bit) and any driver I install for the gfx card gives me crackly audio except the runs from gateway that are ancient. Is you setup fine? (My audio drivers installed fine btw)

I'm having the same issues on my P6831 fx, its either not working after reboot on sleep. The windows installed x64 driver crackles and is horrible! Any ideas on how to fix this. Modded drivers on this site don't seem to work!

Ok found a driver that works!! Finally, I installed it and reboot my windows 7 x64 and it seems to be all ok. I've upload the driver here. gateway_p-6860fx__p6831fx_audio_windows_7_x64.zip - 20.6 Mb

I hope it also works for you. Good luck!

Trying to download your drivers, but that's got to be the worst place I've ever seen for allowing free downloads. Where did you get the drivers from?... any chance you can provide an official download link?

Also, to someone above, so far I haven't had any problems with the video drivers. I'm currently using the 191.59 drivers if I remember correctly. As for the audio, I've downloaded and installed the Gateway v5939 drivers... the program and drivers seem to work correctly under Windows 7 (no pops or clicks of any kind), but I'd still feel better about some "official Win7" drivers... oh well.

It looks like that download no longer is available at the link provided.

Could someone please re-upload to a place like mediafire? So far I haven't found a driver that has worked.

what kind of Gateway laptop do you use? try the Gateway IDT HD Audio 6.10.5939 drivers; you may have to run the IDT PC audio setup program in "Vista Compatibility Mode" in order for the drivers to install correctly under Windows Seven.

try updating the wireless LAN drivers or disable the "B" band from the WLAN card's properties in Device Manager. those solutions seem to resolve most of the audio crackling/stuttering problems. I'd also disable Autoplay in Win7 as the Autoplay features for CD/DVD & removable drives can also cause those crackling problems.

Hey guys, i know this is a old thread, but this is the only place to have some sort of solution available... HAD. there's a link to a driver on this page -

But now it's gone. I just installed Win 7 x64 on my P-6831 FX and after updating my drivers, i noticed the audio for my HDMI connection is still not available as it was in vista. Can anyone guide me to a working Audio Driver?

Any help would appreciated.
