I've been at this for 2 weeks now, to no avail.

Dell Latitude D610

Hardware ID:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_01821028&REV_03

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_01821028

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_0401

Compatible IDs:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&REV_03

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E

PCI\VEN_8086&CC_040100

PCI\VEN_8086&CC_0401

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100

PCI\VEN_8086

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100

PCI\CC_040100

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100

PCI\CC_0401

Using Windows 7 x86 (not x64)

Dell Drivers install fine, but report a code 39, device drivers missing or corrupted.

I've tried wiping the entire bloody drive, installing fresh again, still no luck.

I've tried Realtek drivers..no luck

I've updated to the newest BIOS, no luck.

I've tried every compatibility mode available to Windows 7, no luck.

I've even enabled TPM in hopes it might be a reason...no luck.

WHY can others get this card working fine, and I cannot? You'd think the Dell Vista 32 drivers would work. ARGH!!

The ONLY thing I can think of is something to do with the drmk.sys and portcls.sys, which both report that they are unsigned and unknown.

Someone please help...

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100

those hardware IDs belong to Sigmatel AC97 (NOT STAC 92XX High Def) audio. 92XX HD and AC97 audio chips ARE DIFFERENT! [there's has been some confusion on this for some people] But thanks to Russ for finding the "correct" Sigmatel AC97 (NON-HD) Audio drivers for the Dell Latitude D610 and for the Dell Latitude D410 laptop my aunt uses.

BTW - here's the HTTP link to Dell's Sigmatel AC97 WDM Audio Drivers for Win2k/XP (and possibly Vista/Win7):

I used the Realtek AC97 drivers for WinVista/7 from Realtek. They worked great, got rid of some of the stuttering I recieve on some games and Skype. I'm still looking for an update for Windows XP. These drivers just BSoD on XP.

I tried several drivers for my HP Pavilion dv1442ea Laptop.

It has a audio device with hardware ID

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_01821028&REV_03

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_01821028

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_0401

I tried dell drivers, HP for conexant ac-link audio, realtek AC97

and many others which I was toild to try. Also all the provided drivers above.

All brought code 10 or code 39

Any help available for me.

OS Windows 7 Professional

I don't think those hardware IDs are correct for your HP Pavilion dv1442EA notebook computer.

Since HP doesn't have Win7 compatible audio drivers for the dv1442EA laptop (only Vista downloads though), you can try finding and installing the C-Media AC97 v5.12.01.0048 audio driver, then use the cmcomm.inf file to install the C-Media audio drivers.
